Characteristics

These screen grabs portray the ‘close-up’ which is used to create and emphasize certain emotions towards the viewer e.g warm hearted feeling as the song is a pop/ballad.

GEN

RE

These screen grabs shows the ‘narrative’ which I believe wasn't completed to the best of our abilities as I think the viewer main find it difficult to connect with the video compared to other pop/ballad music videos

These screen grabs show the ‘performance’

visualsLyrics

The lyrics ‘we can walk the walk’ refer with this split -screen shot effect of the artist walking down a row of houses.

The lyrics ‘i will riiiddee...for yoouu...’ could refer to this specific screen shoot of the artist walking with her bicycle along the river bank.

visuals Musical

This screen shot shows when the piano chords plays a lower pitch we have ‘blanked’ the screen to create a relationship with the music and footage...

This screen shot shows the continuous flow from the low pitch chords to what is now the higher pitched chords of the piano...

The screen shots also show the different locations that were used e.g a wooded area and an alley (previous image)

Selling artist

Were trying to ‘sell’ the artist by showing them in different outfits.. preferably clothing that is in style so the target market would be influenced by this and therefore purchase similar clothing

For example in these screen grabs the artist is wearing .. burgundy ‘berry’ coloured leggings with a graphic tee – berry colours our highly popular in A/W12

The artist wears a ‘fit&flare’ black coat which is a piece of clothing that never goes out of style..which was teamed with a denim blue dress to keep it light and playful

Voyeurism

This screen grab shows an mid-shot image of the artist and footage of leaves thrown in the air therefore creating this ‘overlay’ effect..

This screen grab shows split-screen. Though its not precise as it is our rough cut copy ...

This shot shows a close-up view of the artist...

Mise en scene

Settings – we had a variety of settings which included, an alley way that went from Grand Arcade to Jesus Green, the collage field, Jesus Green riverbank, one of our own houses & the walk way connecting Grand Arcade to grafton

Props – we used a few props including a bicycle

Costumes – we had many costume changes, where the artist wore several items that were considered to be in style e.gburgundy berry leggings, fit&flare coat, denim dress, checkered tee, graphic tee..

High/Low key lighting – the lighting starts on high and as the songs gradually reaches the chorus the lighting takes a lower key...

Positioning of characters within the frame – the positioning of the artist various throughout e.gmid-shot, close-ups, wide angle ect..

Colours- we used the natural lighting during some of the day scenes however we did use a large disc with a gold foil on it to enhance the lighting over our artist. We used torches and filters to create a ‘warm’ lighting during the filming at our own home...

Editing

Split screen – this image shows us using one of many editing techniques

Over layering – we tried this technique to create a distinguished effect

Fading – we used this technique to make a smooth transition from each clip

Page 11: Media task 1 presentation

Sound Ambient – there are traces of ambient sounds especially within the chorus you hear echo’s in the background

Diegetic – the music track is mainly diegetic sounds, e.gSound whose source is visible on the screen or whose source is implied to be present by the action of the film

Non – diegetic couldn't hear any traces of this throughout the music track

5improvements

1. Editing techniques – This could be improved as the ‘split-screen’ effect on our rough cut wasn't produced to the best of our ability. What were aiming for is a smooth transition for the opening scene e.g (insert example)

2. Editing on the beat – we really need to improve on this and get the music more synced with the footage. The results would appear more professional and of higher quality

3. Locations – I guess we could've used a few more locations as many professional music videos these days have a variety of locations – this would have given us more of a choice to choose footage from

4. Props – perhaps we could’ve had a few more props for our artist to have used, maybe something that would've made her stand out from all the other pop artists in her competition e.g. A distinguished tattoo

5. Sound – we could make the music synced so when the video fades in the music will fade into instead of starting all of a sudden
