What have you learnt about technologies in the process of constructing this product?

WIX

To present my work, I used a cloud-based web development platform that allowed me to create my own website. Having not used this platform before, I had to learn how to make pages as well as insert things such as images, text and videos. I learnt to create buttons that would link different pages.

I also learnt to present my work well by using the App Market to present my Similar Text Analyses, with Description Dots. This makes the work presented easier to read as it is not presented in blocks of text, but rather in interactive means that can be found interesting and showcase my media skills.

The use of this technology allowed me to present my coursework.

Photoshop: CS6

To construct my media product, I had to learn how to use Photoshop CS6. I learnt to edit my images, for example turning the main image on the cover to black and white. For this I used Adobe Bridge CC and the Adjustments option on the Image header. This option allows me control features such as the contrast and saturation.

To edit my images I also had to crop them to rid the of their backgrounds. For this I used the Quick Selection Tool.

For the main image of my contents page I also had to use the Paint Bucket Tool. I had to first crop the image and then paint the background a light grey colour so that it would stand out on a plain white background.

I also learnt how to add text and to change its colour. By learning how to change the font of that text, I could represent my intended genre.

The Advanced Text Tool further allowed me to control the text on my construction pieces. The available option of adjusting the spaces between each letters and lines mad my media product look more professional, attracting my target audience who are of a mature nature (male and females between 16 and 40).

I also used layers in my media product to arrange everything in the appropriate order ensuring there are no overlaps. This also makes sure that text is layered above the images, rather than hidden beneath them.

I recorded two interviews for my Target Audience Research and analysed them to construct my media product in favour of my target audiences preferences.

I then uploaded those videos to YouTube to embed these onto my WIX page.
