School RoomSchool Room

The school rooms were very horrid places. There was no text on the wall except for the text that was engraved in the wall. The room was heated by a furnace in the middle of the classroom. There was not a lot of fresh air In the classroom. The windows were very high up on the walls so students wouldn’t get distracted. All the cool air stayed at the top of the room because that was where the windows were. The school rooms were separated by curtains. This annoyed the teachers because they could here what the other class was teaching.

PlaytimePlaytime

Playtime was the time of the day when the students got to go outside and play. They would be aloud a short amount of time outside. Only the good students went outside the bad students stayed inside and copied words off the board as a punishment. The students played games like blind mans buff, snakes and ladders, hide-and-seek and hopscotch. Some boys would beg for a pigs bladder from the butcher, which they would blow up to use as a football. Others drilled nails through cotton reels to make spinning tops.
