Presentation Overview: Colleen explores one-dimensional paper patterns & how they translate into three dimensions. Having been in the industry for over two decades & guest lectured for various people in the industry she teaches with a practical approach to creating sustainable patterns & ranges that enable designers & C.M.T’s to thrive. She will demonstrate a pattern audit; this highlights what to look for technically in a good pattern. Let’s get practical, bring back some of the discipline & structure needed to thrive in trade.

Presentation Overview: As a manual pattern maker Colleen has always enjoyed the process of grading, it is like a moving meditation. She will share techniques that have been developed over the years that make grading accurate, time saving & simple. Covering: checking a pattern for production, stirrup grading & a grading technique that Colleen developed called nested grading. This is a good place to cover: how to check a graded nest for accuracy, ratings, markers, blocking patterns & bias cutting.

“I just want to say how enlightening and EMPOWERING your sessions have been for me. Apart from the technical skills I have learned, the life skills I have absorbed are phenomenal, and I do honestly believe the whole experience has been extremely pivotal in my life. And what an incredible networking opportunity! All of us in this industry face the same problems, and I believe we have to look after each other and look out for each other and share with one another; we can only grow the industry - and ourselves - if we remember that. Thanks again for a bril l iant class (as always).” Glenne Jeffrey, Jewellery Designer and Clothing manufacturer.
