Masthead

The Masthead is the logo/name of the magazine. In this it is Vogue. In the same font, Position and Style the masthead is placed on every Vogue magazine. In this one the picture of Lana Del Rey overlaps the G of Vogue Which indicates that it is a known magazine. People can tell which magazine it is even with that letter covered. Thus, the masthead is the Identity of the magazine.

Main Image

The purpose of a main image is to represent the entire magazine and to attract customers. In this case a Picture of Lana Del Rey has been used To attract both Male and Female customers.It is a medium shot representing her Clothes, which Vogue is all about. Fashion.

Issue date/Month

An Issue date or Month is mentioned on the front cover of a magazine to indicate when it was issued. Some times the year is not mentioned here, just like this one. It only says March But it is mentioned inside that this Magazine is of 2012.

Major Sell Line

Magazines mostly display a single Major Sell Line that is related to the Image. There are some Front covers of certain issues that might not have one. In this issue of Vogue it says“The Fascinating LANA DEL REY” writing her name in a sans serif font and in Capitals to give it more importance.

Other Sell Lines

Other sell lines are listed on the front covers of magazines promoting other articles within. These include articles that attract people with different interests as well. If it is a movie magazine, it will include some famous actors that are of interest to many readers. This increases the sales.

A barcode is on the front cover for price identity while buying. Some magazines write the price Like Vogue.

Puff: Offers or Promotions of extra content or giveaways on magazines

A tag line like “UK’s Bestselling” placed above the Masthead to make people believe and improve sales.

Colours: Magazines use colours that attract the eyes of people. They are in contrast to Main images and add beauty to the front cover.

Contents page/sIt is the summary of the complete magazine in a page or more. It tells us which article is featured on which page. It can have an image or two of certain articles.

The Masthead in this is all in lower case letters and in the opposite colour of the background, black against white. It stands outThe date tells in which Month it was issuedThe main images show us feature articles, The articles on which the Magazines focus more on. Sub headings categorize everything that is contained in the Magazine.

Double page spreads

This is a double page spread from the Q magazine. Which is the UK’s biggest music Magazine.

The text involved in the double page spread is very fashion conscious.

It gives us a full detail of what she is wearing.

The background has a Large ‘S’ which is also the starting letter

of the article.

The first sub section briefly describe her first impression in front

of the camera for the photo shoot, which lets the reader know

how she acts and on her appearance.

The informative text tells the reader on the subject matters

background. There is one quote used by the president of

Polydor Records which adds a little extra to the article.

There are different opinions coming from a related source.
