What is Web 2.0 & What is a 2.0 Classroom?

According to Wikipedia:

“The term "Web 2.0" refers to a perceived second generation of web development and design, that aims to facilitate communication, secure information sharing, interoperability, and collaboration on the World Wide Web. Web 2.0 concepts have led to the development and evolution of web-based communities, hosted services, and applications; such as social-networking sites, video-sharing sites, wikis, blogs, and folksonomies.”

So as we see it the 2.0 Classroom is one that embraces technology implementation; specifically web based communication, information sharing and collaboration. This is done Teacher to Student, Student to Student, and Teacher to Parent.

Classroom Websites

Our classroom websites serve as a home base for our students and parents. The sites provide a starting point for students and parents in respect to the subjects we teach.

Students and Parents can check daily assignments, be linked to grades, specific files needed for class, specific links for topics and much more.

Through our websites we have increased the opportunities for parents to take a more active role in their students success.

Setting up a website has gotten very easy and there are many companies that offer pre-designed pages that allow you to edit just like in a word processor.
