Each group do different things on different days.

It helps us to understand more about books and how to enjoy reading and think about stories.

Each group has 4 different things to do on different days when they meet in their group.

This table shows how the system works.

What is literature circles and how does it help us to learn?

Each group has its own book to read when it is their turn to read with Ms. Hugo. It is kind of like a book club.

The conference with Ms. Hugo is when we take turns to read pages from our book and then talk with Ms. Hugo about what we’ve read.

The day after a group read with Ms Hugo we do literature circle tasks . They are:

Artful Artist – It is when you draw a picture of what you imagined what you read.

Word Wizard – It is when you find meaning of words in the book that you didn’t understand

Super Summarizer – It is when you summarize what you have read

Creative Connector – It is when you make connections from a book to real life

What is literature circles and how does it help us to learn?

The table helps us to be able to do literature circles so we know which group does what.

Reading helps us to:

* understand more about books, * read better * think about what we are reading and * also to concentrate on the book.

We spend about 30 minutes on literature circles 4 times a week.

We will now show you a little skit so that you can see better how it works.
