Literature Circles are something that we do every day except Monday.

We have four groups with five or four people in each group. Each group has

a different book and each does different tasks every day.

We get our book boxes and we sit on the rug and we read quietly.

When the time is up we record what we read and how many pages.

One group reads with Ms. Hicks. We take turns reading a page out loud.

We also discuss the book and strategies.

We do several different tasks. We do these individually and then

glue them into the Literacy Journal. An example is the ‘Super

Summarizer.’ This is where we summarize the part of the book that we just read.

The group tasks are projects that the groups do either together or on their own.

Sometimes the group discusses the task prior to working.

The task doesn’t always have to do with the Literature Circle book.

We learn different strategies by doing literature circles.

We learn strategies to help us read better.

We learn how to think about our reading.

We learn how to make connections, predictions and questions about our reading.
