A coordinating conjunction connects words, phrases,or groups of words in a sentence. The words or phrases

being connected should be equal or similar. There are seven coordinating conjunctions in the English language.

An easy way to remember the coordinating conjunctions is to remember FANBOYS.

F = for A = and N = nor B = but O = or Y = yet S = so

F – for She’s kind and had a lot of good in her.

A – and She’s kind and had a lot of good in her.N – nor She doesn’t him , nor does she like his land.

B – but She’s quite on fire and aggressive about defending her land but all for good reason.

O – or Can you tell me who or what Maleficent is?Y – yet Maleficent studied a lot, yet he didn’t pass the test.*yet means the same thing as but. S – so Jolie was thirsty, so she drank some water.
