DIVERSITY IN LEARNING

Diversity in learning means moving away from segregating people by age, gender, or culture and the assembly line model or culture we are all used to (Papert, 1999). Diversity in learning means more changing technology and allowing people to learn according to what interests they have versus being forced to learn what the institution wants them to learn. Diverse learners will learn in a much deeper way if educators focus on learning based upon demographics and psychographic.

Learning strategies such as motivational learning can help those students with different set of values or personalities. Attitudes need to change about diverse learning. Just because a person is poor does not mean they are unable to learn or less competent. Diverse learning allows all student to learn in a way that benefits them.

DIVERSITY IN LEARNING

Learning has progressed from traditional learning models to more advanced models requiring a different approach to learning. The goal being not everyone learns the exact same thing. The entire learning process needs to grow with the way technology has changed and the way the student population has changed. Technology is at the forefront for many of these changes because it empowers the student and the educator in new ways. Because many adult students have different ways of learning successfully, educators must have a good strategy in teaching students that help them be successful. When students are successful they will most likely stay in school to finish what he or she started.

Diversity in learning represents a range of unique ideas to develop learning that is all inclusive to as many individuals as possible. Being sensitive to the needs of others are the primary goals for diversity in education.
