Level Beat Chart

First Impact. Level: Area 51 Timescale & Story: The level’s time is unknown as it is set in an underground base, the main story element is Jeremy trying to escape from the FBI and trying to get out of Area 51. The main focus of the level is to ascend the ladders, avoid the FBI agents, collect the documents on Alien life, and escape the base. Play time of level: We estimate that (excluding deaths), the level will take between 1-3 minutes to complete, allowing time to work out how to avoid the guards’ patrol patterns and collect the documents. Colour scheme: The colour scheme will consist of a silver/grey colour and yellow ladders. Level 2 (Hill) will be the most colourful as it is set outside on a hill, and Level 3 (Meteor) will have a simple design as it is set in space. (Black, white, and brown). Enemies/Bosses introduced and used:

The only enemy for all the levels will be the FBI agents, there will be two types; the moving ones that are searching for Jeremy, and the

standing ones that remain on watch with their guns raised and will shoot Jeremy on site. Mechanics used: The game has very simple controls; A&D control moving Jeremy left and right and W&S for going up and down the ladder, there is not any jumping or advanced controls. The FBI agents have very simple mechanics; one type of guard will move back and forward in the same pattern patrolling whereas the other type will stand there with his gun raised and will shoot Jeremy on site.

Hazards: The main hazard are the laser traps, they remain inactive until you step on the pad underneath, once you do they become active and immediately send out a lethal beam that kills immediately.

Power ups, new abilities, weapons, or gear: There are no power ups in the levels, we decided not to include power ups because we felt it would make the game too easy as it is already a rather linear, straight forward game designed to make you think a little and challenge you, but it not by any means extremely difficult, because of this we believed it would be unnecessary to include any form of power up that would make the game easier, and thus shorter. The same reason goes for not including any form of new abilities, weapons, or gear. Adding weapons would also be a retcon as we have already established that Jeremy is “a peaceful being who does not believe in violence.” Treasure the player can find: In each level there are six collectable items that add to your score, these collectables are completely optional and are not necessarily all on the path to the exit. Players will have to go off course to reach these objects. They change in each level: Level 1: Information documents on Jeremy’s species. Level 2: Goats/sheep, Jeremy’s species would like to conduct research on them. Level 3: Spare parts to repair spaceship.

There will be no bonus material to find, we believe that the 6 collectibles in each level are a substantial amount of optional stuff to obtain. Music track(s) to be used: We shall be making our own music in Garage Band and we will have four tracks: A piece for the main menu, first level, second level, and the third level.
