JIM’S INTRODUCTION
IX564: Design of Learning Environments
I have been living in the Florida panhandle for ten years with my wife and daughter.
My wife and I are originally from the northern states so we enjoy the mild winters.
I spent nine years on active duty in the Army as both enlisted and a warrant officer.
I flew the AH-64A Apache helicopter and now instruct in the classroom and simulator.
I am currently serving in the U.S. Army Reserve.
I have been in instruction and training development with the Department of Defense for over five years.
Unfortunately, my current job is two and a half hours from home so I am away from home Monday through Friday.
This class will complete the Graduate Certificate in Instructional Design for Organizations for me but I plan to continue on into the Master’s program which will qualify me for employment closer to home.
I am also a commercial fixed wing pilot and flew for the airlines for two years.
I enjoy skydiving on the weekends.
I can’t say I have a favorite communication tool but I do use Facebook and email on PC’s.
I text from my smart phone more than I use email or Facebook.
I expect to gain knowledge which will prepare me for my future career as an Instructional Systems Specialist and have fun along the way.
