HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE COMBINATION OF YOUR MUSIC VIDEO AND ANCILLARY TEXTS

Genre ResearchThe genre of my Music Video is

Indie/Folk, despite the fact that the music is Electronic/Folk as stated by the band. However, due to the lyrics of their song ‘I Won’t Forget You’, I felt that it was much easier to create a music video with this genre instead.

Therefore, the Digipak and Advert would have to contain some styles that are similar to Indie posters and cover. Yet, I wanted to add and develop this by creating something surreal.

As shown from the Magazine Advert and Digi-pak the combination is extremely different, yet somehow they appear to sort of correspond with each other.

How effective…

The Advert is eye catching and bold, with the vibrant colour of red being the most prominent. And yet the words appear to blend in with the page, making it appear like something secretive, which is the effect I wanted, because I feel the words hold so much meaning, that I gave them a bashful appearance on the advert.

The Digi-pak, which consists of 5 photos, is very much like the music video, in which that the quite sophisticated, as well as it being quite surreal and dreamlike. Yet again I have incorporated words from the track, adding a sense of meaning and closeness. And convey that same emotions shown in the main product.

To Compare & Contrast

This indie/folk album cover are all quite similar, as they as they all have that surreal and mysterious sort of style to them. Which I believe is also apparent from my album cover. They seem like a possibly collect of an Indie/Folk/Acoustic fan.

However, they are also different by the fact that they seem more polished than mine, and some even have more to offer in terms of detail. Where as mine is rather simple, like the three at the bottom of the college.

The albums featured are not of the same genre. However, they all contain similarities with my advert, in that they stand out and are professional. There is a lot of colours featured.

Except possible from The Verve advert, which is simple and surreal, like mine in a way, because although mine does have a dominate colour, it doesn’t distract from the surreal picture of the forest and sunlight.
