Today’s learners are future “citizen 2.0” Literacy in digital citizenship skills & Higher
education My design and pedagogy embraces the traits and
tenets of a personally responsible citizen (aka ‘good’ citizen) by teaching students how to participate meaningfully – to develop skills of digital citizenship and demonstrate responsibility, integrity, ethics and respect while also having a critical approach and be able to engage in learning in a way that shows collective responsibility
The design of the learning environment incorporates multiple participatory digital social tools where students can share ideas and co-create content to enable them to engage fully in the knowledge society

Develop a model of mashing up social media tools with existing Moodle site for communication and assessment within an unit (Social Informatics) A set of scenarios that uses social media for participation, student engagement and collaborative knowledge building.

Student experience survey Design & conduct a student survey to gather information on their experiences with digital tools and the ability of them to participate online for civic engagement.
Twitter Model A transferable twitter model that uses twitter for multiple learning and communication purposes with peers and externals. A model of archiving tweets for future use and analysis.

Reading brick The wiki site for Social informatics provides an opportunity to collaborate on building dynamic course curriculum and course content. Further the model shows how we can use collaborative knowledge building to create a book that will be used for future semesters.

Scholarship & publication Write a second paper on how to embed digital citizenship skills with real scenarios & student survey data.

Dissemination of project outcomes Develop a hands-on workshop for staff about how to integrate social media into Moodle & possible learning scenarios.
