We hope you can join us. e exciting theme for our fall 2012 book fair is All-Star Book Fair: Every Reader is a Star! We hope parents and other famiy members will share their love of reading with our students and support this excellent project. Science fair coming to HILA in November e second annual HILA Science Fair is just around the corner. Students should be developing their ideas for a science fair project, and those ideas should be approved by teachers this week. e final science fair projects should be brought to school no later than November 27. Display boards for science fair projects are available in the school office for $2.25 each. Please see Ms. Hall in the office to purchase these boards. HILA stu- dents work on their science fair projects during the 2011-2012 school year. Science fair projects are due no later than Novem- ber 27, 2012. Please ensure you communicate with your child’s teacher each week to review their progress. Report card pickup will be on Wednesday, November 7th. Students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. that day. Conferences will begin at 1:00 p.m. Kindergarten through third grade students should enter through the main entrance in the mornings until outdoor duty resumes (spring). Fourth and fiſth grade students should still enter door #6 in the morning. Please continue to ensure that your children arrive in their classrooms before 8 a.m. each day. Starting each day with a healthy breakfast and positive social interactions with classmates enables each child to feel good about coming to school each day! I’m excited to welcome Mrs. Melinda Berry and Mrs. Cindy Weinreb as this year’s Chair and Vice Chair of the Families of HILA. e next Families of HILA meeting will take place on Tuesday, October 30, at 6 p.m. An agenda will be sent out by the end of next week. Fall Festival to HILA firstbe held November 1, 2012graders visitThe
HILA PRIDE Fall Festival will be held on Thursday, November1st.
Students have the opportunity to participate in the Fall Festival
by a pumpkinfarmearning 20 PRIDE points. For students to be on
track, they should haveearned more than half of their points by
now. Students may continue toearn points for positive pride
behaviors up until the day of the party.The Fall Festival will
include painting individual mini-pumpkins forThe first grade
classes went to Bengstons Pumpkin Farm laststudents to take home.
If students finish early, they have the option ofweek! It was an
awesome trip. Students participated in many funwatching Its the
Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown or participating in ascavenger hunt
type game. A schedule with specific grade-level times forfall
activities. The children went on a hayride, saw scarecrows,the Fall
Festival will be sent out in the near future.went through the corn
maze, and even watched a pig race! Manywonderful parent volunteers
helped to make this trip successful.The classes had a wonderful
time learning about how pumpkinsare grown all on a gorgeous day.
