Executive Summary

WRODPRESS is an online, open source website creation tool written creation tool written in

PHP but in non-geek speak, it’s probably the easiest and most powerful blogging and website

content management system (CMS) in existence today.

Among all popular CMS the WRODPRESS is more popular. Not only the blogging website

but also other website such as; e-commerce site, membership can created by WRODPRESS.

So, we create a guide book on WRODPRESS for the beginners.

This guide book’s main intend to help the beginner for acknowledge about the WRODPRESS

and its’ importance. And also, primary lessons on how the WRODPRESS install and run,

how to create e-commerce site, usage of different plugins, coupon, how to backup

WRODPRESS Beginners’ Tutorial

What is WRODPRESS?

WRODPRESS is free and open source website creation tools, which written in PHP. It is a

CMS system and based on PHP and MySQL application software. It installed on web server,

which either is part of internet hosting service or is a network host itself.

WRODPRESS is a free publishing software and content management system (CMS). The

software is open-source allowing developers to create a wide array of plugins, themes and

widgets. WRODPRESS is widely considered easy to use and is the CMS of choice for almost

75 million websites.

Difference of WORDPERSS.ORG and WRODPRESS.COM:

There are two versions of the software. One version is hosted on a cloud and accessed via the

WRODPRESS.com site. The other (WRODPRESS.org) is available for download onto a

private server or host. Technical and community support is provided by WRODPRESS and

the WRODPRESS forums.

On this site we can download and install a software script called WRODPRESS. To do this

we need a web host who meets the minimum requirements and a little time. WRODPRESS is

completely customizable and can be used for almost anything.

On the other hand, www.WRODPRESS.com is an online base. It has limited themes which

are given in that site. We cannot other themes beside this, and also it has no plugins features.

Popularity:

WRODPRESS is the most flexible and demandable for web creation tools in this existent

day. Before learn about how the WRODPRESS install and run, we have to know about the

reason of WORDPRES popularity.

I. WORDPRES is free and open source

WRODPRESS is open source software, it is free to use, edit and redistribute. That’s why

we can easily find its original source codes publicly available. It is completely free and comes

with unlimited validity. We can download it from its official website. Moreover, all hosting

companies generally provide one-click installation facility of WRODPRESS. So, ask it

before we buy hosting. We can also try it on our local computer at first level by using

WAMPP, XAMPP etc.

II. Create Any Website With WRODPRESS

Today, WRODPRESS is more than a blog publishing platform. It has a lot of versatility and

gives you full flexibility to create any type of website. Wide range of themes and plugins

increase its functionality to a great extent. That’s why you can create any kind of website

using WRODPRESS. Such as: An E-Commerce Website, there are several E-Commerce

themes are offered by the theme companies in WRODPRESS.org. You can create a very

professional E-Commerce website using a theme. For example; Front store theme. You can

sell virtual or tangible products easily using this theme.

III. WRODPRESS Is Easy to Use

WRODPRESS is growing fast and one of the main reason is it’s easy. If you still feel hard to

which is more convenient for Bangladeshi learner. Just a one click installation and WP is

IV. WRODPRESS Is Easy To Customize

It’s possible to customize colors, design, and even features of a WRODPRESS theme. It

doesn’t matter you are a developer or not. Customizing your website through coding in not

mandatory.

Customizing Through Panel:

All settings are provided in a control panel under WP dashboard. The dashboard is quite user-

friendly simple interface makes it possible to customize most of the elements of your website

in an easy manner.

For those who are new to CMS, it may seem difficult. However, on spending some time

with child theme and the style.css file, you will learn to play with customization.

V. WRODPRESS Supports Multimedia

WRODPRESS have very rich text editor i.e WYSIWYG. It supports easy insertion of

images, video, audio in blog post. we can insert any media files in our content within a single

click, users mostly engage with images, videos or audios in webpages.

Add anything from a high-resolution image or video to support what you have written. It’s

not only easy to upload these files but you can also edit them easily.

We need to collect and download some important things they are- purchase a domain name,

install FTP software, and download WRODPRESS software. Now, we are going to learn

about how to install and run the WRODPRESS step by step;

Starting process of WRODPRESS:

There are several steps those we have to go through for staring WRODPRESS. They are-

Step 1: We need a local server or buy a space of a host company server or use a free server.

Then, download WRODPRESS zip file from www.WRODPRESS.org and retain that at a

new folder which could be named “WRODPRESS collection”. Unzip the W/Ps zip file.

Step 2: If we do not want to work in local host and want to directly work in live saver, we

might need domain and hosting. We have to create an account by giving our user name and

password. It is very important to connect with server.

Step 3: Now, we would download the FileZila in our PC. It is necessary for transfer data such

as; WRODPRESS folder, different plugins, and themes from PC to server. Important data

could be drag and paste that to the server by FileZilla. All those data are uploaded and save at

the storage of the server.

Step 4: Then, create a user name and password for WRODPRESS. So, next time we can

directly login to the WRODPRESS for edit without entering in server. The address of

WRODPRESS login server is 192.168.0.61/~ecom01/wp-admin and the address of online

site is 192.168.0.61/~ecom01, where we check the modified version of our site.

Public html: It is a folder of server where upload all new data for public can see all those.

Inside the public html the unzip WRODPRESS folder must be stored.’

FTP: File Transfer Portal

N.B: There are three times user name and password, one for server, second one for

WRODPRESS, and third/more than third is for creating database.

How to create a database:

Page Creation:

Creating page is the first task of working process in the

WRODPRESS. In WRODPRESS, we can write pages. Pages are

for content such as "About," "Contact," etc. Pages live outside of

the normal blog chronology, and are often used to present timeless

information about theself or the site information that is always

applicable. We can use Pages to In addition to the generally

required "About" and "Contact" Pages, other examples of common

pages include Copyright, Disclosure, Legal Information, Reprint

Permissions, Company Information, and Accessibility Statement.

In general, Pages have Titles and Content and can use the

WRODPRESS Theme templates files to maintain a consistent look

throughout the site. There are other attributes of pages, which are given below:

The other attributes of pages are:

Pages are for content that is less time-dependent than Posts.

Pages can be organized into pages and subpages.

Pages can use different Page Templates which can include Template Files,

Template Tags and other PHP code.

Pages may have a more complex array of readily available display adjustments

when using sophisticated Themes with extensive customization.

In essence, Pages are for non-blog content. It is possible to remove all or most

Posts from a WRODPRESS installation, and thus to create a standard non-blog

website.

Creating Pages

To create a new Page, log in to the

WRODPRESS installation with sufficient

admin privileges to create new articles.

Select the Pages > Add New option to begin

writing a new Page.

Organizing New Pages

The page can edit by using tools and

publish them. We can also create

subpages within the Pages by

selecting the page has parent or do

not have parent from drop box under

the left side page attribute.

Menu Creation:

Creating of is very important for building a website because, without any menu created the

pages are not visible in our web site. So, we should know the way of menu created. Steps are-

Click on Appearance > Menus

Inside the menu, we might write down a name of that menu. Then, click on “Create

Menu”

Next, there is new page will appear. Where we select all pages we created and click

on “Add to Menu”.

Selected pages will add with new menu. However, we can arrange that the menu as

either primary or side menu and also we can organize the page in edit menu by drag them

Theme Download:

What is a Theme?

Fundamentally, the WRODPRESS Theme system is a way to "skin" the weblog. Yet, it is

more than just a "skin." Skinning the site implies that only the design is changed.

WRODPRESS Themes can provide much more control over the look and presentation of the

material on the website. We can also say that it is a collection of files that work together to

produce a graphical interface with an underlying unifying design for a weblog. A Theme

modifies the way the site is displayed, without modifying the underlying software. Themes

may include customized template

files, image files (*.jpg, *.gif), style

sheets (*.css), custom pages, as well

as any necessary code files (*.php).

I the Appearance Panel, there are

many themes available for download

that will work with the

WRODPRESS installation.

If the Theme that we are installing provides instructions, be sure to read through and follow

those instructions for the successful installation of the theme that it is recommended Theme

developers provide installation instructions for their own Themes, because Themes can

provide special optional functionality that may require more steps than the basic installation

steps covered here.

Using Themes:

WRODPRESS currently comes with three themes: the default “Twenty Fifteen”, and

previous “Twenty Fourteen” and “Twenty Thirteen” theme. We can switch between Themes

using the Appearance admin panel.

Themes that we add to the theme directory will appear in the

Administration Screen > Appearance > Themes as additional selections.

Adding New Themes using the Administration Panels:

We can download Themes directly to the blog by using the Add New Themes option in the

Appearance sub-menu.

1. Log in to the WRODPRESS Administration Panels.

2. Select the Appearance panel, then Themes.

3. Select Add New

4. It is already connected WRODPRESS with online WRODPRESS.org. So, it will open

the theme page of WRODPRESS.org.

5. Then, either uses the any theme in the filter or search options to locate a theme we

would like to use.

6. Click on the Preview link to preview the Theme or the Install Now link to upload the

Theme to the blog,

7. Or use the Upload link in the top links row to upload a zipped copy of a Theme that

we have previously downloaded to the machine.

8. But, if any reason the WRODPRESS cannot be connected with WRODPRESS.org,

we will use alternative way.

9. Go to the www.WRODPRESS.org > click on “Themes”

10. Download the zip file of that theme

11. Then, transfer that unzip file of the theme by FileZila from PC to server.

12. Put that unzip folder of theme into wp-content > themes

Woo-commerce:

Woocommerce is an open source e-commerce plugins for WRODPRESS. It is designed for

small to large-sized online merchants using WRODPRESS. The plugins quickly became

popular for its simplicity to install and customize and free base product.

Woocommerce is a free e-commerce plugin that allows you to sell anything, beautifully.

Built to integrate seamlessly with wordpress, Woocommerce is the world’s favorite e-

commerce solution that gives both store owners and developers complete control.

Download and Installation:

When we done to choose our hosting company, install and run the WRODPRESS, and pick a

theme, we must add the plugins. The name of plugins is Woocommerce. The activation steps

of Woocommerce are given below-

Activate Woocommerce:

With the website up and running, it’s time to install E-Commerce functionality with

Woocommerce. There are two ways to do this.

Way one: Download the Woocommerce plugins

1. Download the plugins from WRODPRESS.org

2. Unzip the installed zip file of Woocommerce

3. Go to the FileZila FTP for transfer the Unzip folder of Woocommerce to server

4. Sever folder > public html > WRODPRESS folder > wp-content > plugins

5. Go to: Dashboard > Plugins , we will find that that Woocommerce plugins is

Way Two: Search for the Woocommerce plugins from within the website

Adding a product:

To add a product we have select

1. Product name: First we have to type the product name.

select product categories. Product categories and

tags work in much the same way as

normal categories and tags we have when writing

posts in WRODPRESS. They can be created,

edited, and selected at any time. This can be done

when we first create a product or come back and

edit it or the category/tag specifically.

3. Product Description: Here we have to put all out product detail information which buyer

needs to know.

4. Next, we have to select the product type. When adding a product, the first thing to

decide is what type of product it is.

A Simple product type covers the vast majority of any products we may sell. Simple

products are shipped and have no options. For example, a book.

A Grouped product is a collection of related products that can be purchased

individually and only consist of simple products. For example, a set of six drinking

glasses.

A Virtual product is one that doesn’t require shipping. For example, selling a service.

A Downloadable product is much like a virtual one. It’s not shipping but the

customers are given a downloadable file. For example, digital album, PDF magazine, or

even photo.

An External or Affiliate product is one that we list and describe on the website but is

sold elsewhere.

A Variable product is a product that has variations, each of which may have a

different SKU, price, stock option, etc. For example, a t-shirt available in different colors

and/or sizes.

Our product is t-shirt. So it is a variable product.

is an extension of Woocommerce

plugin that allow our users to compare

some products of our shop. All products

are saved in one complete table where

the user can see the difference between

the products. Each product features can

be set with the Woocommerce

attributes in the product configuration.

We can also add a simple widget with

the list of products the users have

added, where you can manage them.

Also we can simply customize the

compare table with our style, by editing the specific template.

Add the features in each product by setting the attributes in prouct configuration;

Configure the options in YIT Plugin -> Compare;

The user of your shop will click in the "Compare" button located in the single product

page;

Will be open a popup with the compare table inside.

YITH Woocommerce Product Add-Ons Plugin: With YITH Woocommerce Product Add-

ons you'll be able to increase your customers' propensity to spend more and you'll be able to

cut off time dedicated to managing additional options for each product separately. How? Let's

imagine you have a jewellery store and one of your customers is going to purchase a ring: if

variations can let them decide whether they prefer it in gold, silver or copper, how can you let

them have a brief sentence carved on it and associate an extra cost to this in product page?

Coupon:

Coupons are a great way to offer discounts and rewards to you customers and help to promote

sale across your shop.

The Woocommerce coupon is a great way to give your customers discounts on products and

service. In tutorial I will show you how to create a coupon and demonstrate the flexibility of

expriration dates and usage per coupon.

How are coupons used in ecommerce sites?

Discount type

Cart discount- A fixed total discount for the total cart. Example: $20

Cart % discount- A percentage of discount for the total cart. Example:5%

Product discount- A fixed total discount for selected products only.

Product %discount- A percentage discount for selected products only.

Allow free shipping- It has the feature that we can disable the shipping cost when coupon is

used. So that, buyer is unable to buy our products below the certain amount.

Coupon expiry date- What date the coupon should expire and no longer be used. For

example; if we want the coupon to be end on August, write 31.8.2016 in expire date

selection.

Usage Restriction

Minimum spend - you have to set the minimum price needed to use the coupon.

Maximum spend - you have to set the maximum price allowed when using the

coupon.

Individual use only - Tick the box if you don't %%ant this coupon to he used in

addition to other coupons.

Exclude sale items - Tick die box if you don't want this coupon to apply to products

on sale.

Exclude products - A fist of products that the can must not contain for the coupon

Product categories - A list of product categories that the cart must contain for the

coupon to be valid

Exclude categories - A list of product categories that the cart must not contain for the

coupon

Email restrictions - A list of email addresses that are allowed to use a coupon. "This

verity with the customer's billing email.

Usage Limits

Usage limit per coupon - Here you can fix how many times a coupon can be used Limit

Usage to X items – Here you can fix how many items the coupon can be applied.

Usage limit per user - Here you can fix how many times a coupon can he used by each

customer.

Other plugins installation and way of using

Adding Social button

If we want to add social button before or after our post, products, pages, download, we can

use “Wpsocialite” or “Add this”. Both of these sites are using for same task. So, we can use

only one plugin for adding social button.

The “Wpsocialite” has extra one benefit than “Add this”. The benefit is that the social button

(Facebook, Google+, and Linked In.) gives the status of view or like or share of the viethe on

the specific social site. Which takes a lot of times for a page loading, but in the Wpsocialite it

works differently. It takes little time for page loading because social button is not showing the

status of viethe at first time of login, when the cursor of mouse run over the social button or

scroll the page it show the status. So, it works little bit quicker.

We need to work on Wpsocialite settings for modifying the social icon. Here, below the

screen shots of setting with explanation are given:

Displaying a Form

Let’s start with displaying a form on the page. First, open the ‘Contact’ > ‘Contact Forms’

menu on the WRODPRESS administration panel. We can manage multiple contact forms

there.

Just after installing the Contact Form 7 plugin, we’ll see a default form named “Contact form

1”, and a code like this:

[Contact-form-7 id="1234" title="Contact form 1"]

Copy this code. Then, open the edit menu of the page (‘Pages’ > ‘Edit’) into which we wish

to place the contact form. A popular practice is creating a page named “Contact” for the

contact form page. Paste the code we copied into the contents of the page.

Now the contact form setup is complete. Visitors to the site can now find the form and start

submitting messages to we. Moreover, we can customize the form and mail content. Because.

We may feel that the default form is too simple for we and we want to add more fields to it.

Some uses of fields are given below-

These types of tags have one or more values, and the values will be used as options in the

drop-down menu.

Quiz

In order to distinguish a form submission by a computer program versus one from a human,

and also to block them, we’ve been able to use CAPTCHAs with Contact Form 7. However,

CAPTCHAs are hard to use in some cases. Some people have difficulty in answering

CAPCHA, or simply dislike answering them. Managing CAPTCHA needs graphic libraries

installed on the server, which are not always provided.

In some cases, a simpler approach is more suitable. With this quiz feature, If the senders

prefer math, change the tag to look something like:

[quiz math-quiz "12+48=?|60"]

We can use any question and answer. To submit the form, the sender has to input the correct

answer.

Plugin Flamingo:

Flamingo is one kind of plugin which is working as supporting plugin for creating any

contract from. The website owner or creator can keep the track that how many viethe send

mail by contract from. Flamingo provides the number of mail sender.

Backing Up WRODPRESS:

It might be possible that server can be crushed by any incident, for that reason we have to

keep back up of WRODPRESS and database. A good number of data of web design and

login information are generally saved in phpMyAdmin database. So it is important to have a

back up of this database. There are two ways or having backup.

1. Manual

Manual:

At first we are going learn how take manual backup for wordpress and database. So create a

new folder or directory for backup. This is named by ‘WP Backup”.

WRODPRESS backup

The WRODPRESS site consists of the

following files they are WRODPRESS

Core, Installation, Plugins, Themes, Images

and Files, JavaScript, PHP scripts, and other

code files. Everything that has anything to

do with the look and feel of the site is in a

file somewhere and needs to be backed up.

Additionally, there are three items, are very

important in WRODPRESS. They are “wp-

content,” “.htaccess” & “wp-confiq.php”.we

must back up all these 3 files in the

WRODPRESS directory (including

subdirectories)

These three items can find in the unzip

folder of WRODPRESS at server. These are

stored in “public_html”. We need to use

FileZila for transfer these 3 form server to

PC’s “WP Backup”.

Using phpMyAdmin

The phpMyAdmin is the name of the

program used to manipulate the

database. .

Quick backup process

When we backup all tables in the

WRODPRESS database without

compression, we can use simple

method. To restore this backup, the

new database should not have any

tables.

1. Login into phpMyAdmin on

the server

2. From left side window, select

the WRODPRESS database. In this

example, the name of database is

"wp".

3. The right side window will

show we all the tables inside the

WRODPRESS database.

4. Now, select the “Check all”

below the table.

5. Then, click the 'Export' tab on

the top set of tabs. If we want to

change default behavior, select

Custom backup.

6. Select Custom option. Detail options are displayed.

7. All the tables in the database are selected.

8. For avoid the double data transfer, under the object creation option everything will be

same except check Add DROP TABLE & uncheck CREATE PROCEDURE

/FUNCTION statement. Before table creation on target database, it will call DROP

statement to delete the old existing table if exist.

9. At end press by mouse on “GO”. All data are saving at the “WP Backup”.

Recovering the data:

Since we have all backup, we can recover the WRODPRESS in no times. At first, use the

FileZila in same way and drag the three items (wp-content, .htaccess, wp_confiq.php) from

WP Backup folder of PC to wp folder of server. Then, Import all data of database from WP

Backup folder of PC.

Using Backup pulgins:

There are several plugins for backup. “WRODPRESS Backup to Dropbox” and “BackWPup”

are mostly use for backup.

How to use WRODPRESS Backup to Dropbox

When our server can connect with internet, we go to plugins; select add new and search

“WRODPRESS Backup to Dropbox”. After finding the backup plugin, we will install it. It

might be automatic update and appear on WRODPRESS plugins. The use of WPB2D is

given below-

When we active WRODPRESS Backup to Dropbox, we will a new option “WPB2D”. Click

on that a new page open where it ask for sing up or login at Dropbox. After login we will find

Backup option under tools in dash board of WRODPRESS. in dash board of WRODPRESS.

Manage multiple schedules.

Choose schedule, backup type, and number of backups to keep and whether to receive a

notification at email\

Here below the short description of back up settings-

Backup: Here we select the location where the backup data will save.

Schedule: In this option, we need to select how many times in a moth we want to back up all

data.

Start time: Here, we select the the backup time when the data are automatically start for

taking backup.

Email notification: If we enter our email there it will notify by mail time to time when it

backup.

Delete database:

If any reason we want to delete WRODPRESS and database, we must take backup of these

by following above instruction. Then, we might delete those from both sides. One is server by

FileZila and another one form database of My SQL manager. At first, open FileZila and give

server ID (192.168.0.61), user name and, password. Then, click on Quick connect for

connecting our PC with the

certain server. After

connecting, we will find some

folder of server such as; img,

public html etc. We will delete

whole folder within public html

which contain all data of

WRODPRESS. Secondly, we

are going to My SQL manager

for deleting the database. In

addition, we can also delete

database form phpMyAdmin.

Go to Database

Select “Check all”

under the table

Beside it select “Drop”

form the drop box

All data will delete.

Limitation

There are different kinds problematic situation we have to face. Server domain name

change or IP address change is one kind of problem we used to face.

If any reason suddenly the IP address or domain name change, and that are why we are facing

login problem and the E-site is not showing properly. The reason of this problem is in

database carry the old domain name. On the database, we need to run the following SQL

commands, making sure to replace the 'olddomain.com' and 'newdomain.com' with he right

names. More elaborately, when the domain name is changed, the old domain name is not

removed for the database. We need to replace the old domain with new domain name. The

steps are given below-
