Oakland High School requests $50,000 for the creation of the Grove, a 21st Century digital campus.
Oakland Grove Project
• promotes asynchronous, digital learning
• supports at-risk and non-traditional students
• prepares students for life in the 21st century
Oakland H.S. is focused on small learning communities.
Oakland High School uses service learning &
community partnerships.
Oakland High School strives to provide access to education and resources
to an under-served population.
Technology integration =

The Grove allows students to access instructional materials and participate anytime and anywhere.

One-to-one access allows for equitable access facilitating learning and growing.
Goals & Objectives
Students will be able to collaborate with their teachers, peers, and mentors unrestrained by the four walls of a classroom.
• access course materials using the thin client computers and course pages to organize work and projects using the CMS and tools available. • learn and demonstrate media literacy, ICT literacy, and information literacy skills.• participate in the digital world by creating content and using technology to collaborate and communicate with peers and the community. • use the Grove to make the most of other technology tools that they have access to, including Flip cameras, interactive calculators, and software.

Teachers will create virtual classrooms that can be accessed by students, community partners, and parents anytime and anywhere.
Teachers will:
• fully integrate smaller technology tools like interactive calculators and Flip cameras
• create and maintain course pages that allow students, community partners, mentors, and parents access course material, create content, access tools, and communicate.
• learn and model media literacy, ICT literacy, and information literacy skills.

administration will be intimately involved in the students’ learning experiences.
Administrators will:• maintain blogs and post content
pertaining to staff, students, and community relationships using the CMS.
• learn and model media literacy, ICT literacy, and information literacy skills using the Grove and web 2.0 tools.

partners will be able to provide content, respond to student needs, and access materials using the Grove.
Community partners will:• provide content and resources for students, staff, and parents using course pages.
• collaborate with Oakland High School students to complete service projects and prepare students for the post-secondary education.

Parents will collaborate with Oakland staff and students to create and share learning experiences.
The Grove will allow Oakland students to individualize their
