My Analysis
One aspect that I want to modify in the Basic Education Curriculum (BEC) out of
the five aspects is evaluation. I really am concerned with the way of evaluation in BEC
since I believe it’s not that reliable. Evaluation process should embrace formative
evaluation, summative evaluation, authentic evaluation, and all the evaluation processes
needed to have genuine and reliable evaluation. In such way, evaluation process will be
fair to every single learner. A specific evaluation process should be employed to a
specific topic.
I prefer Learner-Centered Design Model since in the first place, the learners are
the center of the educative process. I believe its primary aims are to teach the learners
holistically and to prepare learners to face real-life situations. First hand experiences and
direct purposeful experiences will be experienced by the learners and will result to life-
long learning. Moreover, learners are actively involved in every learning process.
Subject-Centered Design Model
The thing I like best in this curriculum design is the focus and purpose itself. This model focuses on the content of the curriculum intended for the learners. Schools divide subjects for specific learning outcomes. It focuses on what to teach to learners for with these subject matters, learning would be good and effective.
Learner-Centered Design Model
The thing I like best in this model is the belief that the learner is the center of the educative process. It supports the learning principle that, “Learning is an active process”. It believes that learners are more prominent than the subjects in the educative process. Yes, subjects are still part of the learning process but subjects would be of no use without learners. Its focus is to holistically hone the learners.
Problem-Centered Design Model
Basically, I like this model for it is based on the needs, concerns, interests, and abilities of the learners. I believe it prepares the students to face real-life situations. Its general purpose is for the learners to overcome trials in life.
