Photoshop

If not for Photoshop I wouldn’t have been able to create any of my print products I used to make the layout and edit the photos I used. I also used it to make the black card and other intertitles that I used in my trailer. I used lots of different tools on Photoshop including the quick selection tools, clone stamps and different filters, this helped me to make my product look as professional as possible, I discovered lots of new things in the process including how to make certain sections of images change colour or how to change the effects, this helped me to not only make it look professional but how to make it live up to the horror genre.

GarageBand

When it came to making my trailer I needed to make a soundtrack separately as Garage Band gave me to opportunity to use different sound effects from their library and add my own from copyright free sites. I developed skills a lot using Garage Band as I was able to transfer my trailer into it and then match my sound to it before transferring it back. I feel confident using and creating soundtracks from using this piece of software and without it my trailers sound wouldn’t sound as good or run as smoothly.

Final Cut Express

I used Final Cut Express to create my trailer and also to create my animatic. Having never used this software before this my knowledge on this has increased greatly, I used tools like the razor cut tool and the pen tool to cut and fade in and out of shots. I also added effects to the clips to enable them to look professional. If I hadn’t had this software I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to do as much with my trailer as I did to ensure it was as professional as I could make it.

Grab

This tool has benefitted me a lot as without it I wouldn’t have been able to take scree shots of me working throughout the process. It enabled me to update my work continuously and put it into my blog.

Powerpoint

Powerpoint was used to answer questions for my evaluation questions and present my research in a tidy and aesthetically pleasing way. It allowed me to go into step by step detail when answering questions.

SLR Camera

I used an SLR camera to take the photos for all of my print work, this camera made all of my work look professional, I also used it to record some small sections of my trailer when there wasn’t any video cameras available. The high quality of the lens made my work look professional.

HD Video Camera

Without a HD Video Camera my trailer wouldn’t have had any high quality shots, it has allowed me to take shots of my trailer, ideas and development to create rough cuts and then a final trailer. This enabled me to take my planning and make it the real thing whilst still keeping the professionalism and high quality.

iPhoto

This enabled me to store all of my photos and videos in a safe and organized manner which made it easy for me to find them and select the correct ones.

Tripod

This enabled me to take shots from different heights and angles whilst keeping the camera steady so it looks as professional as possible. Without the tripod my camera work would look amateur and almost like a documentary.

iPhone

I used my phone to download apps to help with my research and planning. I used the doodle app to create my call sheets in a creative way. Without this my call sheets would have looked boring and mush less professional. I also used my iPhone to record some sound from home, this was the easiest way to do it as I could easily transfer the sound from my phone to the college computers while still having it at a high quality.

Photobooth

I used photobooth to collect audience feedback on my products, photobooth was easy to use because its easy to use and saves all of its work straight to files that are easy to access.

Blogger

Blogger has been a great advantage as it helped me store all of my research, products and evaluation work in an organised way and in chronological order and it makes it easy to access al of my work. It also makes it easy for other people to view my work and know exactly what I have done. It also enables me to use lots of media technologies and store them without all of my work being spread over the internet and unorganised.

Prezi

Prezi is a creative way of presenting my work, it enables me to use different themes and colours to present my research, planning and evaluations. It helps to let people view my work clearly and helps me to plan my ideas in a creative mind map.

Google

Google has been essential to me in the research and planning stage as I could use it for research on different movies and I could use its image search to help me with finding professional posters and magazines.

YouTube

I have used YouTube during the research and development stages to look at professional trailers with a similar genre to the one I studied. I also used YouTube to upload my work in the development stages and also with my final product and with my evaluation stage. YouTube is easy to use and everyone can easily access it and view it.

Slideshare

Slideshare is another way of presenting my ideas in a creative way. Slideshare allowed me to present my PowerPoint on blogger in a professional and tidy way. I used this website for my research and my evaluation stages.
