How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and

evaluation stages?

Media Technologies

• Media technologies have played a vital role in my research, planning and construction as without them my work would not be successful. They have not only provided me with different ways in presenting my work, but they have enabled me to learn new techniques and experience using new technologies.

Photoshop

• Without Photoshop I would have not been able to construct my print products at a professional level. Photoshop provided me with many different tools in order to produce professional looking print products such as filters, the clone stamp, brushes, adjustments (of brightness and contrast) as well as many other editing techniques. I have not just used Photoshop for my the layout of my print products as I have used them regularly throughout this project. I have edited photographs I have taken for the final production of my work and I feel this has furthered my editing abilities and awareness. When editing my trailer I have also used Photoshop to create my intertitles.

Final Cut Pro

• Final Cut Pro has enabled me to create a trailer at a professional standard and has made me more aware of industry technology. I am now ultimately more aware of the editing techniques Final Cut Pro provides as I have used video filters effectively when editing my trailer. Final Cut Pro has not just helped me with the production of my trailer as I have also used it to create a successful animated logo. Although my use of Final Cut Pro was mainly devoted to the production of my trailer, I believe I can now use it more effectively through practicing regularly through production. I am now able to use keyframes efficiently in order to animate as well as use video transitions. I am now also more aware of how to satisfy some genres through the use of video transitions and particular shots.

Final Cut Express

• As well as using Final Cut Pro for the production of my trailer, I have also used Final Cut Express. Final Cut Express is a simpler version of Final Cut Pro, but I am now aware of both and I feel by using both I am more flexible when regarding editing my footage. I used Final Cut Express to practice creating animations. I found it helpful and it made me more aware of what to expect when I used Final Cut

Pro.

Facebook

• I used Facebook in order to receive feedback about my work as well as a tool to contact my actors and keep the up to date with my intentions for filming. I am aware Facebook may not be a professional method of contact, but it has benefited me with the organization of my

production.

iMacs

• I have regular access to iMacs and they have enabled me to access some of the software such as Final Cut Pro and Photoshop. Ultimately having such good access to the iMacs it enabled me to keep up to date with work as well as use the appropriate software in order to complete tasks and progess my work.

Photo Booth

• By have Photo Booth on the iMacs I have been able to complete video updates of myself giving feedback about my work as well as updating my intentions. This has helped me through the development and planning of my work as it allows me to discuss my potential ideas and intentions for my production. Photo Booth has also allowed me to take photos to update my make up ideas, therefore progressing my

planning further.

Powerpoint

• Powerpoint has enabled me to present my research and intentions in a different way in comparison to just creating a written blog post. Powerpoint has also helped me when evaluating my work in a different method in order to ensure I use a range of softwares and programs to display my progression throughout this project. Powerpoint has also allowed me to go into detail with my thoughts for my production.

Prezi

• Prezi has allowed me to present my work in a different manner. As Prezi is like a mind map, it has been helpful when researching and planning as well as evaluating as it allows me to conclude my ideas gradually and effectively. I feel Prezi is a professional way to represent your work as it allows you to go into depth with your ideas as well as include videos, photos and links to other websites making it an appropriate method for transferring information and constructing ideas.

Slideshare

• Slideshare is another website that has allowed me to present my work in a different method. Slideshare allowed me to embed my Powerpoints onto blogger and has ultimately become a regular website I use at is works effectively and appropriately. I have used Slideshare for my research and evaluating as I feel it’s a professional method for displaying my thoughts and ideas about my work.

Google

• Google has been an effective tool for my research and planning as it has allowed me to search for images from professional texts to compare to my ideas for my own products and therefore has allowed me to develop my ideas and intentions regularly.

YouTube

• YouTube has allowed me to update my work regularly when regarding the development and planning of my work as it has allowed me to upload videos of me discussing my intentions as well as upload videos of focus groups, which I have used for my research. YouTube is a useful and effective tool for displaying videos and has benefited me throughout this project as I have used it frequently, especially through research as I have been looking at professional trailers of a similar genre to my own regularly to ensure I followed the forms and

conventions in my own products.

Blogger

• Blogger has benefited me through all aspects of my work as it has allowed me to keep up to date with all areas of my project as well as display and keep track of my posts. Blogger has given me the ability to use Blogger professionally as I am now aware of all Blogger has to offer such as creating creative blog posts as well using other methods to present my work. Blogger has also made me more aware of how to use HTML, which I feel could be

beneficial for future use.

Soundtrack Pro

• Soundtrack Pro has played a vital role in the production of my trailer and has also allowed me to experiment with potential ideas for my production. It has ultimately made me more aware of the level of thought that goes into making professional soundtracks. I ultimately feel although I have used this program for the production side of my project, I feel my research and planning has become successful and clear through my use of this program as I now feel comfortable creating soundtracks and considering what elements goes into different

soundtracks of different genres.

Grab

• The Grab tool has benefited me throughout all aspects of my work as it has enabled me to take screen shot selections in order to up date my work regularly in a professional and tidy manner. It has made it easy to record my work even when working on a program such as Final Cut Pro or Soundtrack Pro.

Dafont.com

• Dafont.com has become useful when researching into ideas for the style of fonts I want to use and whether they are appropriate for my chosen genre. Dafont.com has also benefited the production of my work as it has helped my product have professional looking fonts that suit my chosen genre and ultimately create realistic products that appeal to my target audience.

SLR Cameras

• By using an SLR Camera I have benfited all areas of my work as they have enabled me to ensure that my photos look professional and therefore ensure my print products are to a professional standard. SLR cameras have also allowed me to record my ideas frequently to ensure my ideas and intentions are

clear.

Video Cameras

• Without a video camera the production of my trailer would not be successful. It has allowed me to take my ideas from development and planning and put them into action in order to create a professional

trailer.

Tripod

• A tripod allowed me to ensure the production of my trailer was successful as it ensured my shots were steady as well as varied, making sure my final trailer is a professional looking

product.

iPhoto

• iPhoto has allowed me to store the photos I have taken in order to ensure my research and planning is a success. It has allowed me to keep organized and construct my ideas.

Digital Cameras

• By using digital cameras as well as SLR cameras I have been able to update my research regularly as I have been able to carry around my digital camera so my planning as been regular and current. It has also allowed me to be more organized with my work and also helped me update my ideas and intentions regularly.
