In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions

for real media products?• In our production we used most of the normal forms and

conventions. The only thing that we probably shifted from the most is the music, because instead of us having a mixture of two songs for both the ballet and the street dancing. Instead we just chose a hip hop track and then we sequenced the different shots, in a way that all the shots, both ballet and the street dance, synced well with the music. The way the opening sequence starts as well is sort of different because it has the opening titles on the side of the wide screen beside the small picture of the sequence. Normally this type of convention is done at the end of a film as extra props.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

• Our media product represents people who love dancing, be it hip hop, street, ballet, jazz or even tap dancing. It is for people who share a common passion and who love to watch dance. This is also targeted at teenagers because it could have a big influence on them, to maybe become dancers or even take it up as a hobby. Our media product is also a representation of how hard people are willing to work in order to achieve, especially if they enjoy doing what they do.

Who would be the audience for your media product?

• The most likely audience for my media product would range from young children to teenagers. I say this because the genre of our product is a dance/ drama which is mostly found entertaining by the younger generations. The genre of a movie is very influential on audiences because of societal influences factors that genre has. This is when a persons actions but in this case thoughts are affected by other people.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

• Our media product is most likely to be distributed among popular central cinema’s around the country. The distribution process will begin from the movie premiere’s, where the stars of the film as well as the director are able exhibition it the night before its opening. The targeted cinema’s will be those that attract teenagers rather than the upper middle classed and middle aged. For example, The Odeon, in Marble Arch, Central London. I say this because this particular area is around the corner from Oxford Street where a lot of children and teenagers do their shopping, therefore they would most likely go into that cinema.

How do you attract/address your audience?

• The first thing that catches the audiences attention when promoting a film, is most likely the trailer. The trailer gives a little insight as to what the film is about, which may attract people to come watch the movie after its opening at the cinemas. Another thing that easily attract audiences is promotional teasers such as posters, posters with the stars of the film. The stars of the film(who features) is another major influence, for example Johnny Depp and Will Smith are box office hits.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

• From the construction of our media product I have learnt probably the most important thing is how to use all the works with the camera, the different camera levels, the lighting, the sound and how to get different shots from different angles. At first I found it hard to keep the camera at a steady level, but was told that the tripod had many adjustable levels. It was small things like that I learnt the most. Another thing I learnt to use was the Adobe Reader, when editing our production.

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression

from it to the full product?• The different I had things I had to learn from the

preliminary task is that we had to film more of the same shots in order to have a variety of shots we could pick from, come to editing. We sometimes had ten clips of the same shot because sometimes the lighting would go fuzzy, or the camera wasn’t steady enough or even the sound was a bit off. All these things were important for the main task. Another thing that was important is that the opening sequence had to make sense in terms of the film setting, and the order of sequence.
