In what ways does your media product use, develop

or challenge forms and conventions of real media

products? (feel-good drama)

Narrative

The narrative adheres to the conventions of a feel-good drama the new equilibrium always starts with bored or sad character for the equilibrium. e.g. The best exotic Marigold Hotel, all the OAPs feel bored with the life in the busy city of London. In our film, Louise is bored with her job and feel unfulfilled with her life. another thing that our narrative adheres to the convention is that it finishes with a happy ending. Our film does the same as the main character falls in love and is happy with her new life.

Cinematography

The Cinematography adheres with the conventions of a feel good drama as it uses basic shots and close up to show how the character is feeling. We have used this convention in our title sequence by having multiple close-up of her face to show how her feeling have change throughout.

Editing

For the editing, I have used dull and bright colours to change the lighting of the shots to create a certain atmosphere. For the scenes in which Louise is at the office, I changed the lighting to a darker tone to create a melancholic atmosphere; for when Louise is at home, I changed the brightness setting up to create a happy atmosphere. This follows the conventions of a feel good drama as the lighting need to contrast each of of the settings.

Sound

The sound for the sequence starts off melancholy then upbeat later on to show how her decision to travel to India changed her life for the better. the upbeat music has indian instrument in it to to connote the Indian theme. This follows the conventions of a feel-good drama as there has to be an upbeat soundtrack in the film.

Mise en scene

The mise-en-scene follows the conventions of my chosen genre as it changes from Louise dull life at work to her happy ice at home. this is seen through the lighting and iconography which is mostly relevant to where she is travelling to (india). e.g. orchids and reading book about India. her hair is down in the home shot to show how relaxed she is; her her is up in the office shot which connote her seriousness and how bored she is at work.

Typography

The Typography adheres to the conventions of a feel-good drama as the font is bright and colourful as it is a gold colour. however the font has more of a Bollywood fell to go with the theme of India so challenges the conventions of the genre as usually the font is quite simplistic.
