A lot of young people nowadays have very little leisure time for

themselves. There are lots of causes to this situation, for example, parental

pressure, poor time management and also, competition for university places.

The first main cause is parental pressure where parents would want to

see their kids succeed in everything they do and get a great career. This is

why they exert pressure to spend hours each day going to tuition and coming

home studying. Some even send their kids to boarding school to study

because there are so many distractions around them at home. Back in the old

days, it is not common for young people, especially kids, to spend another

three hours at private schools or tuitions after their usual day. That’s why, kids

now a days have very limited leisure time and the pressure on them is

substantial. The effects of this is that the students will have a distance

relationship with the parents and family

The second main cause is about students having very poor time

management; they have lots of assignments, projects, homework and more.

The bad thing is, most of them leave things to last minute, and the effects are

having sleepless nights, overwhelming of tiredness. This may be caused by

the students because of they’re attitude, thinking of what they want, not what

they have to do as a student. The attitude of a student can change his/her life

if one does the right thing. The elders may also be an influence to the young

minds, if they don’t do or act the right way, always leave things to last minute.

Furthermore, the young ones, or students are very fragile, easily influenced by

the elders.

The third main cause is related to the higher education system by

competition for university places. Every year, students get upgraded and go to

a different school, college, or university, and there are many more applicants

to university than there are universities. The outcome of this is that only those

students with very high grades manage to achieve a place. This underwrites

to the pressure on teenagers since they must work long hours to have any

chance of achievement. These causes bring effects to the students such as

health issues, illness, and many more. Schools, Colleges, Universities should

also help to guide students to the right path, balance both activities and

academics.

In conclusion, solution to this setback is for the parents to be aware of

the effects of the pressure they put on their children. They should show love

and care and also time to be with them and lead a more balanced live with

equalized leisure time. Schools, Colleges, Universities should also help to

guide students to the right path, balance both activities and academics. Also

to seek the elderly like from the counselors and psychology, if the students

are not close to their families, they should ask these people.
