Semantics is a sub discipline of linguistics which focuses on the study of meaning. Semantics tries to understand what meaning is as an element of language and how it is constructed by language as well as interpreted, obscured and negotiated by speakers and listeners of language.

SUB SKILLSThese sub skills are used to improve understanding towards becoming good communicators, especially of English.It is right and just to correct the deficits students encounter with these skills especially to future teachers who will use English as their medium of instruction.

• Words that we do not understand and use are not part of our vocabulary.

• We need to improve and expand our vocabulary through READING.
