Early name ideas I intend to fulfil my intention of creating my magazine to be a non-mainstream house style; therefore the title of my magazine needs to match the genre of my music magazine. For some readers, the title of the magazine appeals the most and is what they see before any other feature. The name of my rough copy music magazine was ‘goodlife’, this reflected upon the positive features the magazine encouraged. I would like my music magazine to be of a similar title as to my rough copy, however ‘noir’ would work well with my creative and imaginative ideas. I have discovered early font styles for my music magazine through ‘dafont’ which also show artistic values; there is a particular font which I am interested in for using for my music magazine which creates the effect as if it has been sketched out by hand. Additionally this font compliments my proposed music magazine title of ‘noir’. I have displayed my choice of fonts which are featured below: From my research, I have discovered the title of many music magazines seem to consist of one word. Examples of this are Q, NME, Kerrang, Atmosphere, Mojo, Vibe, and Blender. Each title relates strongly to the magazine itself; Vibe ironically relates directly to music. If I were to name my music magazine ‘noir’ it would still have relation to music and what the magazine consists of, black could be connected with music through feelings & emotion, image and the house style. Personally I think the proposed title of my music magazine applies both to music as well as my non-mainstream house style which I wanted to aim for. Pre-production ideas have helped me decide what genre of music magazine I want to design, also exploring what I could name my title. In addition, ‘noir’ would be a suitable title for my music magazine because it meets all of the requirements, the hand-written effect also fits in well with the house style of the magazine.
