What is Type Contrast?

Type Contrast is the difference in two or moreaspects of fonts. Type contrasts include such

things as italicizing a type compared to bolding,or regular. Alignment is another big type

contrast that many people like to use. Lastly,using a font, size, or color that is different fromthe rest of the words is an excellent example of

Type Contrast.

A contrast in Size refers to twodifferent objects, i.e. a large anda small picture. A contrast insize is a simple, yet effectiveway to get people’s attention,because it is the naturalresponse of the human eye tolook at the larger object first, sothe more important object isusually the larger image.

Contrast in ColorAnother widely used type of contrast is a

contrast in Color. If you haven’t noticedyet, humans tend to look toward thebrighter colors that catch their eyes. Ifyou had a yellow shirt and a black shirtexactly the same sitting next to it, fromacross a store, most likely, the yellowwould catch your eye. Thus, being a well-known concept, it is used quite a bit.

Value has to do with using differingshades and tints or sizes that are similar;however, catch your attention. Value alsohas to do with texture. Two differenttextures next to each other often catch theeye and make people look closer

Obvious Contrast

Obvious contrast covers anything fromcolor or black and white to size of twodifferent objects. It could be a medley ofboth. It is what it sounds like. This is avery miscellaneous group.
