Considering my Target Audience for my Film Opening Audience Consideration The element of consideration Audience Engagement This is one of a few things I want to mainly consider on when filming and producing my film opening, being able to engage the audience. I plan on engaging the audience by using the various amount of skills I have learnt before the project had started, for example, the different lighting techniques, use of mise-en-scene, codes and conventions and the use of camera shots. Using these different skills throughout my film opening will engage the audience and will connect them and allow them to understand the main character and what he is going through. One example of how I will use lighting techniques to engage the audience is when the main character is stranded in the desert. I will add a tint of orange to really emphasize on the heat/weather the main character is facing and this engages the audience by informing them on the location the character is at and gives them a realistic idea. Audience Expectations The soundtrack I will chose to be in the background of my film opening should indicate what type of genre my film opening is. The soundtrack will be mysterious and will add tension to the situations and journey the main character is in, however, I will chose a soundtrack that won’t take too much attention away from the storyline as I really want to let the audience to have a chance to connect with the character and understand the emotions he is feeling. The TV program ‘sevens’ inspires my title sequence as it includes simplicity as well as mystery, which build up excitement for the audience, and this is something I want to do similar to in my title sequence. Doing this in my title sequence informs the audience on what to expect in the film sequence. The title sequence will show the location where the main character lives and what he is surrounded by, and I will do this by using different camera shots such as, establishing and wide shots. From these shots the audience will come up with a numerous amount of their own ideas on what they might think what the film opening is about. Audience Identification Audience Identification is they way in which audiences feel themselves connected to a particular media text, in that they feel it directly expresses their attitude or lifestyle. The different shots of the main character showing his facial expressions and the mysterious soundtrack along in the background is one way of how I will encourage the audience feel connected. I made sure that my idea of the film opening is realistic and something the audience can believe in and this is why I think my film opening will be successful in uniting the audience’s feelings with the characters. Audience Research I plan on completing my audience research by doing a simple questionnaire on what they think of my idea and how they think I could possibly improve if they are not completely certain if they like the idea or not. This will give me a chance to adjust to my idea and make it as interesting and engaging as possible, which is my main focus that I want to achieve once I complete my film opening.

AudienceExpectations ThesoundtrackIwillchosetobeinthebackgroundofmyfilmopeningshouldindicatewhattypeofgenremyfilmopeningis.Thesoundtrackwillbemysteriousandwilladdtensiontothesituationsandjourneythemaincharacterisin,however,Iwillchoseasoundtrackthatwon’ttaketoomuchattentionawayfromthestorylineasIreallywanttolettheaudiencetohaveachancetoconnectwiththecharacterandunderstandtheemotionsheisfeeling.TheTVprogram‘sevens’inspiresmytitlesequenceasitincludessimplicityaswellasmystery,whichbuildupexcitementfortheaudience,andthisissomethingIwanttodosimilartoinmytitlesequence.Doingthisinmytitlesequenceinformstheaudienceonwhattoexpectinthefilmsequence.Thetitlesequencewillshowthelocationwherethemaincharacterlivesandwhatheissurroundedby,andIwilldothisbyusingdifferentcamerashotssuchas,establishingandwideshots.Fromtheseshotstheaudiencewillcomeupwithanumerousamountoftheirownideasonwhattheymightthinkwhatthefilmopeningisabout.

AudienceIdentification AudienceIdentificationistheywayinwhichaudiencesfeelthemselvesconnectedtoaparticularmediatext,inthattheyfeelitdirectlyexpressestheirattitudeorlifestyle.ThedifferentshotsofthemaincharactershowinghisfacialexpressionsandthemysterioussoundtrackalonginthebackgroundisonewayofhowIwillencouragetheaudiencefeelconnected.ImadesurethatmyideaofthefilmopeningisrealisticandsomethingtheaudiencecanbelieveinandthisiswhyIthinkmyfilmopeningwillbesuccessfulinunitingtheaudience’sfeelingswiththecharacters.
