COMPETENT COMMUNICATOR
8 New Members from the previous termOnly need half of them to complete their 10 speeches in
12 months
COMMON CHALLENGESMembers join but don’t deliver speeches until 3
months later and do speeches slowly (less than 12 months to complete CC)
Some members struggle. After CC3 or 4 they don’t come to club meetings anymore.
Members have difficulties in keeping the momentum and slow down after CC6 or 7

COMPETENT COMMUNICATORSUGGESTIONSGoals. President & VPE to sit down and identify each
members (new & existing) reason for joining TM. What motivated them to join (help them achieve that goal), who inspired them to join (potential mentor)
Appoint a Mentor. Mentor to work together with VPE to ensure that mentee’s goals are being met and if mentee is facing any challenges and obstacles in TM journey.
Buddy System. Have the members going for CC pledge their goals to each other and to the club. Have them monitor and challenge each other.

ADVANCED COMMUNICATOR

COMMON CHALLENGESNew CC’s want to take a break from delivering
speeches.Can’t decide on what advanced manuals to do. Members have difficulties in keeping the
momentum. Time commitment. Satisfied at having accomplished CC.

Identify and suggest Advanced Manuals to meet CC’s goals.
Visible List of AC Manuals. Clubs should have a full set of the advanced manuals for Members to peruse.
Create a AC Track. i.e. Plan and Suggest to CC”s who want to be Public Speaker “Speak to Inform” & “Specialty Speeches” for Managers “Speeches by Management” & “Interpersonal Communication”

LEADERSHIP
From All members Only need 2 of them to complete a Leadership award.
COMMON CHALLENGESNew CC’s forget to record their meeting role. VPE not able to track meeting roles well.Members don’t want to take up leadership roles. Members feel that they don’t have the time or skills
to be leaders. Satisfied at having accomplished CC & CL

Identify members who do well when doing Project 6 (Organising & Delegating), 8 (Motivating People) and 10 (Team Building).
Actively Promote AL track. The AL track automatically encourages members to take up leadership roles.
Share your Leadership Story. Motivate and Inspire others to become leaders by sharing your story.

member brings one guest. Have recruiting material or info kit ready at the meeting. Have VPM and VPPR talk to guests. Promote Toastmasters not only as a Public speaking but
leadership, community, social activity. Share success stories. How members have benefitted from

The Toastmasters education programIdentify members personal and professional education

Suggest manuals and activities (roles, contests etc) for them
Create your club’s own AC Manual pairings.
Constantly review if their goals are the same and whether the goals are being met.

Focus members on becoming DTM as part of the journey automatically requires them to take up Leadership roles.

MEMBERSHIP RETENTION
Membership Retention“People don’t care how much you know, until they know
how much you care.”
Listen to your members. Ask them what are their goals, their motivations for joining TM.
Have efficient and productive meetings
Encourage by providing an environment where they do not fear failure.
Encourage the attendance to Conferences and Conventions

TOOLS
TRAINING. Attend or participate in Club Officer Training or any other TM Training
PLAN. VPE to utilize spreadsheets to plan in advance, meeting role players and speech delivery dates for CC’s
RECORD. Secretary to keep track of role players via Program Element. Manage members TM journey. Suggest roles for them to take up to achieve awards
