CLIL Project: Argentinean regions and their climate Areas involved: English, Geography, Arts. Aims and content: To review vocabulary related to Argentinean regions. To present vocabulary related to weather, temperature and climate with an Interactive PowerPoint. To divide the class into groups and assign them a region from which they will look for information. To solve some exercises applying the new vocabulary and the information they brought. To learn about the climate in different seasons. To design a poster and present it orally to the rest of the class. School Context: School: Escuela Provincial Nº6 Ricardo Gutierrez Group: 5th year, 25 students. Ages: 10-11 Frequency of classes: One hour class a week. Estimated length of the project: Three to four lessons. Activity 1: Warm up: Activating prior knowledge Analyse the map showed on the board. Ask them to identify the regions pointed by the teacher. * What region is this? * Which provinces belong to this region? Activity 2: Exposition of weather and temperature vocabulary with an interactive PowerPoint. Answer the questions. *What’s the weather like? *How’s the temperature? Activity 3: Divide the class in groups. Each would be assigned with a different region and should bring information and pictures about the climate depending on the season of the year. * Use information brought and complete the blanks: Eg: In (name of the region), the weather is______________ and the temperature is____________, during summer. In (name of the region), the weather is______________ and the temperature is____________ ,during winter. In (name of the region), the weather is______________ and the temperature is____________, during spring. In (name of the region), the weather is______________ and the temperature is____________, during autumn. Activity 4: Make a poster using the pictures and the sentences built in Activity 3. Present it orally to the rest of the class.
