We Feel Your Pain
“Many California teachers are scrambling to find fresh ways to thriftily educate their students and maintain their physically crumbling classrooms.” They now spend $1,500 a year of their own money to keep their classrooms afloat.
"I always ask business owners if they have pens with their logo on them so that I can distribute them to the students," says Nosanov Goldman, who has been teaching for 22 years. "I've never had to beg like this."
Annual sales of school fundraising merchandise total 3.7 billion But. . .
School fundraising sales show that many people want to help schoolchildren
Grandparents and graduates are scattered around the country
But fundraising sales cannot reach many of the schools’ potential supporters
• Not tax-deductible (so people do not give as much) • Not matched by 16,000 businesses that match employees’ donations • Time-consuming and disruptive • Not rewarding (people do not know where their money goes) And. . .
More problems with current school fundraising sales
$2 billion of the money people take out of their wallets to help kids actually goes to the cookie dough and wrapping paper companies instead of the schools. Imagine the classroom resources that could be provided if there were a more efficient way for schools to attract support.
Squandered support and a new opportunity
Sales $3.7 B
To schools $1.7 B
Lost $2.0 B
• Teachers, administrators, and PTA leaders easily create Wish Lists.
• Visitors (parents, grandparents, graduates, local businesses and others) see what is needed, and they make tax-deductible contributions to help.
• The full amount of the donation, less only a discounted credit card processing fee (just 2.2% and 30 cents) is credited to the teacher’s wish list account.
• More than 16,000 companies match employees’ donations, which can double their funding.
ClassWish.org: Wish Lists Provide Relief
Educators get resources from favorite vendors
Educators use donations they receive to get resources from any of our partners (we keep adding more).
ClassWish sends the items right to the educators.
We deduct from the educators’ wish list accounts only the amount they would have paid had they bought the items, themselves. No fees!
It’s quick, easy and efficient.
The Result: Students get the support they need
ClassWish.org: A different approach to better serve educators
• ClassWish welcomes every K-12 educator: teachers, student teachers, coaches, administrators, PTA/PTO leaders, and booster clubs.
• ClassWish serves all K-12 schools.
• ClassWish does not make teachers earn points to post their needs.
• ClassWish is easy. Create a wish list in minutes. No need to define an educational project or write a 400-word essay. No approvals needed.
• ClassWish wish lists never expire. No need to start all over again every four months.
• ClassWish does not charge fulfillment fees.
• ClassWish educators can use their funds as soon as donations come in.
• ClassWish educators need not raise any minimum amount, and they do not lose their money if they do not reach some target.
You may know of another nonprofit with a superficial similarity to ClassWish. Our solution is quicker, easier, more efficient, and risk-free.
Our new referral program gives State PTAs a quick and easy way to:
• help all the PTAs in their state (and all their students)
• generate extra funding to support their own important work.
It is modeled after the tremendously successful program that helped Dropbox.com grow quickly to 100 million users.
Introducing a New Referral Program
www.ClassWish.org/1389
Your State PTA gets a personal referral URL and invitation tools
You invite school PTAs in your state
Referral Program: State PTAs invite School PTAs
Referral Program: Invitations accepted
When school PTAs use your invitation URL to come to ClassWish.org and to join the site, we keep track that you recruited them.
The invited school PTAs create Wish Lists at ClassWish.org.
Parents, grandparents, graduates, local businesses and others see the Wish Lists, and they make tax-deductible donations to help. Many employers match those donations.
Referral Program: Wish Lists attract donations
$
After receiving donations, school PTA leaders visit ClassWish-Vendors.org to have ClassWish send them the resources they want.
As school PTAs you recruited use donations they receive in their first year, ClassWish pays you 3% of that amount.
Referral Program: School PTAs get resources; State PTA gets rewards
3% referral reward
Of course, we cannot know exactly how much any particular school will raise or how much any State PTA will receive in referrral rewards, but the following illustrates the opportunity.
$10,000 year-1 donations to a typical school PTA you recruit
X 3% referral rewards
$300 referral rewards to your State PTA for a typical school you recruit
Size of the Referral Program Opportunity for You
Students: Students get the classroom resources they need to thrive.
Teachers: Teachers get the resources they need – without spending their own money.
Community: Supporters get an easy, rewarding, efficient, and tax-deductible way to support teachers and students.
State PTAs: You improve classrooms for students and teachers in your schools. You also earn referral rewards, which you can use to support your important work.
Everyone Wins!
