Globalization Example
There are so many examples of globalization because it can be used in many ways with
technology. Globalization is part of everyday life.
Computers that are used are made of parts and pieces from all over the world, assembled
in a company somewhere in the world, and then shipped to America or wherever it is needed.
Everything we use in real life is composed of parts from the whole world. In education children
can use tools such as Facebook, twitter, and YouTube to see globalization. On Facebook students
can have friends in other parts of the world. This can allow students the ability to see pictures,
videos, and important landmarks from all over the world. Twitter can allow communication
from one person to the other which allows a student to become familiar with beliefs of other
cultures. On YouTube students can watch educational videos of how other people in other
countries eat, dress and speak. Teaching students culture of other continents by using technology,
so the students can interact with people from other countries is globalization.
A Specific example of how globalization ca be used in the classroom is with Facebook.
There is a Facebook page called TravelSouthAmerica if you look up South America on
Facebook. This Facebook page was created by a specific company and they post important
places to see. Under each picture there is a description of that place provided and a website to
visit to find out more. This would be wonderful to use in the classroom instead of reading
straight form a textbook. The teacher could pull Facebook up on the overhead projector and go to
this page and allow students to come up and type in questions to this company about different
places they provided. This will allow interaction and communication with people all over the
world. This isn’t just staring at a book but the students will be receiving actual responses from
actual people in different places in the world.
