My job for this task is to use my knowledge of Photoshop to make the poster, which my partner will also advise on the colour scheme and text types so that is corresponds with the front cover of the film magazine which we are also making. My partner will be the one taking the photo for this poster, which I will give my input towards. While in the photography stages of this task, my partner and I thought a lot about the mise-en-scene of the image. We specifically asked our main actor/model to paint her nails red as this would connote danger within the image. We knew that is would be effective to use the main prop in the poster rather than the face of the main character in the trailer as it would make the audience question why the bear is so critical in the movie making them want to know more and watch the movie in cinemas. We also decided to place the knife in the scene as this plays an important role in the trailer showing the aggression that comes over Nancy throughout the movie. The use of blood on the knife also emphasises the danger and also highlights the genre of this film as blood and death are themes of horror and thrillers.

My partner took a landscape image for the poster as this challenges the normal conventions of thriller/ horror movie posters which I felt gave a very unique feel to the poster so that it stood out from the rest and would therefore be more prominent in advertisement.

In terms of lighting and location, we felt that shooting in the kitchen would be the most effective as this is where most of the action happens in the movie and we wanted to emphasise this, even though is it not obvious that this is in a kitchen, after watching the movie the audience with recognise this setting. We used high-key lighting behind the bear so that a shadow would cast over, showing the importance of the bear.
