Mount Carmel College is a premier institution for women’s education in India. Established in 1948, it is run by the sisters of the CSST order. The institution has stood the test of time which is reflected in its dynamism and energy.

VISIONMount Carmel College, Bangalore, envisions a life-oriented education that empowers the students through a humanizing and liberative process, to be agents of transformation and development at different levels of life. Enabled and empowered, they respond pro – actively to concerns and conflicts inherent in today’s reality, especially those of women and persons who are unable to exercise their freedom to be human and work for the integrity of creation. The thrust is in the light of a “Civilization of love”, the Kingdom of God, as envisaged and promoted by the Foundress, Mother Teresa of St. Rose of Lima.

MCC AT A GLANCE

Fifty-seven spacious classrooms, five large halls, two conference rooms, twenty-six laboratories,

two libraries with over 60,000 books and journals, a museum, 3 auditoriums, a studio, a

stadium with a 200 meter cinder track, a botanical garden with 2000 plants, a dispensary

and a placement cell. All this in an Institution that started from a single crowded building

which housed the college, office, hostel, lab, library and convent! And, all this, set amidst lush foliage in the heart of the busy Cantonment area!

THE BIOTECH DEPARTMENT

The biotech department of has successfully completed its glorious 10 yrs of imparting education in MCC. These 10 yrs of successful completion has been accompanied with various workshops, UGC grants for research work, training programs for

students & several events. The Biotech students from MCC have excelled in every field & are now enrolled in various research project & industries.

CHIASMA’13

Science fest “Chiasma 2013” is being organized by the Department of Biotechnology to celebrate its 10th year of completion & in Honor of completion of 50 yrs of molecular biology, since the discovery of structure of DNA. It will be a state level science

fest with many colleges being invited for participation. More than 50 colleges are to be

invited for participation. It will be a one day fest and events like pictionary, JAM, Think-Tank, visual quiz, Cranium Contortum etc will be conducted for

students.
