Author of the Month! Roald Dahl Roald Dahl was born on September 13, 1916, in Llandaff, South Wales. Junior School Library celebrated his birthday by encouraging students to read his books and wear yellow as his favorite color was YELLOW.
Roald Dahl published the popular book James and the Giant Peach in 1961.In 1964, he released another highly successful work, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which was later adapted for a film. Over his decades-long writing career, Dahl wrote 19 children’s books. He died on November 23, 1990, in Oxford. In addition to James and the Giant Peach and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Dahl’s most popular kids’ books include Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Witches and Matilda. Here are some highlights of the day. The students brought their Teddys to the library
and read bear stories. There was a bookmark and creative story writing competition. We
hope you enjoyed the glimpse into this special day

Roald Dahl is a famous author who
had an amazing imagination. Some of
his famous books are ‘Charlie and the
Chocolate Factory’, ‘James and the
Giant Peach’, ‘The Twits’. On his
birthday Junior School was dressed in his favorite color, YELLOW.

Junior School was privileged to have India’s
first lady Chief Justice Mrs. Leila Seth as a
guest speaker on Friday 27th September
Questions such as what is a democratic republic, why are
we secular, what does it mean to be good citizen, and what is
sovereignty were answered by Mrs. Leila Seth with the help
of her book, “We the Children of India The Preamble to Our Constitution”.
Mrs. Seth was the first woman judge of the Delhi High Court and the first woman to be
Chief Justice of a state in India. She retired as Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh in
1992. She was a member of the 15th Law Commission of India and responsible for the
report on Free and Compulsory Education of Children. She is involved in human rights
activities and with a number of schools and colleges. She has a diploma in Montessori
education.
Mrs. Seth is the mother of writer Vikram Seth (A Suitable Boy) and grandmother of
Anamika Seth who is in Grade 3 at Woodstock.
