What is your gender?

I asked this to gain basic information of the people who were completing my questionnaire, however the questionnaire remained anonymous. I also asked this to gain information on what females and males like in magazines.

Results: • Male – 36.67%• Female – 63.33%

I will use this information as it tells me that I should possibly aim my magazine more towards females however, I should still try to attract a male audience.

What is your age?

I asked this to gain basic information of the people completing my questionnaire and to decide what the age range of my target audience should be.

Results:• 15-20 year olds – 70%• 21-25 year olds – 23.33%• 26+ years old – 6.67%

I will use this information to make sure I aim my magazine to a target audience of males and females aging from 15-25.

How often would you buy an indie rock magazine?

I asked this question to decide on the frequency of publication for my magazine and use the results collected to see what the target audience prefers.

Results: • Weekly – 3.33%• Fortnightly – 23.33%• Monthly – 73.33%

This information has helped me decide that my magazine will have a monthly frequency of publication as the majority of the target audience said they prefer this.

How much would you pay for an indie rock magazine?

I asked this question to decide on a reasonable price for my magazine that the target audience will be willing to pay.

This information has told me that a reasonable and affordable price of a magazine for my target audience would range from £2.00-£4.00, so I will base the price of my magazine on this range.

I asked this information to see whether the target audience prefers indie rock magazines or rock magazines. Also, each of the magazines have a different house style so I used this to see what type of house style the audience prefers.

These results have told me that most of my target audience prefer indie rock magazines and they prefer the house style of Q which has a quite conventional and structured layout so I should use a similar layout in my magazine.

These results have told me that I should focus my magazine on articles on bands and artists from the indie rock genre as the majority of the target audience find this more interesting.

I asked this to see which indie rock bands/artists are popular and which people of the target audience would prefer to read articles about in my magazine.

Results: Answers included – The Kooks, Arctic Monkeys, The Stone Roses, Catfish and the Bottlemen, The Smiths and The 1975.

This information has told me that I should include articles about some of the bands listed in the results. This will attract the target audience to buy my magazine as these bands are popular in the indie rock genre.

This information has helped me to gain a better understanding of the indie rock genre and a better understanding of what the target audience think of the genre. This has helped me as I can base conventions such as the layout and colour scheme of my magazine on the results.
