RnB

Demographics Class- RnB music generally applies to a middle class audience of whom

can still afford to buy albums and go to shows of RnB artists. It is not high class music as they will prefer more classical sounds to suit their lifestyle rather than RnB which is a rather mainstream genre.

Age- This genre of music is relevant mainly to people aged 14-25 as the lyrics of these songs are often explicit and the audience must be mature enough to listen to these types of songs as adults.

Gender- The predominant gender for RnB is females as the song lyrics conventionally revolve around songs that include love, emotion and heartbreak. Teenage girls often feel this way and so applies to this audience as well as the young adults.

Ethnicity- Typically, the ethnicity of this genre is usually mixed raced/black as RnB comes from soul music which originated with African-Americans as an adaptation of gospel music, rhythm and blues and jazz.

This is the stereotypical audience that would be consuming RnB music .

Psychographics RnB music would generally apply to aspirers who are seeking status are

may want to replicate the lifestyle of a certain artist from this genre. They are often well orientated to image, and appearance whilst persona and fashion is a key element on the music that an audience would enjoy. It relates generally to younger audiences who have someone or something to look up to and this area of music can be that motivation that they need.

It could also apply to explorers who are seeking discovery. It is generally for a younger demographics which falls into our target audience of 14-25 whilst the artist will provide the energy, individualism and experience that they crave.

Usher is an example of this type of artist who is based very much around: fashion, persona and the effect that he will have on an audience.

Extra notes Females are generally attracted to RnB due to the male characters who

perform and produce the music. They are then physically attracted to these male singers whose lyrics can be very meaningful to their stage in life whilst their fashion and sexual characteristics will also be a key factor.

RnB can also fall into sub genres to please different types of audiences. There are fast RnB songs and slow RnB songs which can change due to purpose in the fact that they can be very meaningful and powerful with lyrics or fast songs which will be more focused on the sound and the beat which is generally very catchy. The slow songs use low key lighting and involve thoughtful lyrics whilst the fast songs are very bright and attractive to coincide with the audio that goes with them. These faster videos tend to focus on the males having tattoos and jewellery which is subtle such as a watch, chain or earrings as a symbol of wealth.

The videos are generally very sexual with the men often being topless whilst the women wear very little clothing along with high heels as they are seen as an object of desire for a male audience.
