SIGNAGE

The signage doesnt just have to be at the top.... here the place from where i took the photo is actually the place where you first see the store, coming from the entrance... and you know which store it is because the sign is presently right in front of you. ... so you dont have to look up or go right to see which store it is ...

Page 3: Attention please

Here you can see the Store sign on the side walls to help people coming from sides which is usually the case in malls .. ...

Page 4: Attention please

Entire store at Flat 50% to 70% off .... it was neatly done and attractive...... Also one of the reasons i went into that store

DOORS

Page 6: Attention please

Some store didn't have doors ... the shutters were hidden above ... this actually felt nice as it was easy to move around

PRODUCT ARRANGEMENTClothes arranged by FIT was easier and comfortable than finding clothes when arranged by SIZE ... it felt easy to first find your fit and then look for your size than the other way around

PRODUCT ARRANGEMENT

Products were categorized solely based on function like mobile phones, All in one computers etc... but i

felt a further classification based on brand would be helpful ... cause it was hard for me to find

where Galaxy Note 2 was amongst all other phones ...

Croma .. the electronic shop

CASH RIGISTER

At most places, the cash register was at the Centre back,

Marks and Spencers had its exchange policy written in large at the cash counter ..... i found this very convenient as you don't have to ask anyone or wait for your bill to come out to know the exchange policy

please pay here MARKS & SPENCERSExchanged your mind.. thats OK. .. we are happy to exchange or refund ...with in 35 days etc

etc etc

Marks and Spencers had some of its Clothing and Grooming range under "Gift Ideas" ..... when you see this, it rings "OK i can gift this to somebody"

They also gave a brochure of their "Autumn Winter Collection" along with the purchased items ..... the customers later when they see it at home, they may find something they like and go there again .. .

At Howards Storage, i felt that the products were exquisite, unique and attractive and also very expensive, but they were placed in a

rather dull environment...

Page 15: Attention please

Here's how it could have been better

Instead of keeping too many products keep only a few of a kind

Throw in some attractive pics of the product. There were unique products that didn't explain how unique they were, so pics would definitely help

Also you could put pictures of a normal kitchen/bathroom and a Howards Kitchen/Bathroom or design the store to look like a kitchen or bathroom to show the difference

There were interesting articles i found on their website...like "How to save 10 minutes everyday ", "Picnic Essentials-which in turn talks about their Thermal picnic backpack" .. why not put these on the walls or near the product to explain to the customer what they were spending on .....

Page 16: Attention please

i found this pic on their website ... why not do this in the store

Now look at the new imagine store at Orion Mall, Bangalore

Other Observations

Yes, impulse items were placed nearby to the cash register ... people who bought items at that store did give it a look before billing ..

The items for sale were placed such that you see them the moment you enter the store

Almost all the stores had their feature products displayedon a display table or on the wall

when you walk into a fast fashion store, you know its expensive but you still go in to see if you can get something good, here it is important for the salesperson not to differentiate between customers but give their suggestions and help them find something to look good in... i don't think people will hesitate to shell out a few extra buck for something they look fantastic in
