MHPS Community Hub The Community Hub is closed for renovation, due to repairs to the roof. If all goes well and to plan MHPS Community Hub will be available for their pro-grams to commence from Monday 6 March 2017. Healthy Breakfast on Monday and Wednesday mornings, Toast Friday on Friday mornings, Arabic Play Group and Turkish Play Group will not take place while MHPS Community Hub is under renovations. These programs will commence the week beginning Monday 27 February 2017. MHPS Community Hub Programs that will take place during the renovation period but at different locations are: English Classes: Mondays 9:00 – 11:00 am at MHPS in the Learning Centre Room 19 Sewing Cafe: Thursdays 10:00 – 12:30 pm at Buchan St Community Centre Coffee & Chat: Friday 9:00 – 10:00 am at MHPS in the Media Centre If you have any enquiries re MHPS Community Hub Programs please contact Salwa SALEM, on 9305 2033. The Wellbeing of Children from Syria and Iraq

Researchers from Foundation House and The University of Melbourne would like to understand students’ thoughts and feeling about their lives in Australia. Students selected for this research are to be in Year 4, 5 or 6, have been in Australia for no more than 2 years and have come from Syria or Iraq. Students will take part in an enjoyable computer program titled “My Life in Australia”. This program asks students about:

their feelings living in Australia, the things, places and people that make them happy and cared for the things that worry them and the things that help them to feel better

In the week beginning Monday 27 February 2017, the school will contact parents via a phone call to inform them about the research study on “My Life in Australia”. A letter and consent form in Arabic and English will be sent home with the student and it is to be completed and returned to school, sealed in the envelope provided. Students taking part in the research will not be identified in any way. No names will appear and all names will be kept confidential. The school and families will receive useful information to help support the children. Meadow Heights Primary School welcomes and supports this research.

We need your help! We are looking for parent volunteers to help us make iteracy resources. If you have an hour or two to spare please Contact Andrea at school.

27th February - 3rd March Dear Parent/Carers, The Beginning of the Year Parent – Teacher Meetings for parents/carers will be held in Week 5, Monday 27th February to Friday 3rd March between 3:30pm-5:50pm. All parents/carers are invited to attend The Beginning of the Year Parent – Teacher Meetings. It is important that you attend the meeting as it is an invaluable experience and opportunity for both the parents/carers and Home Group Teacher to meet and discuss your child’s schooling this year. This opportunity to meet with your child’s Home Group Teacher will also establish a positive understanding about the year ahead. The meeting with your child’s teacher/s will be held in Week 5 on the following days:
