About Antioch College

Based in Yellow Springs, Ohio, Antioch College possesses a tradition extending back more than 160 years. Opened in 1852, the institution served as one of America's first nonsectarian colleges, as well as its first equal-opportunity coeducational one. Also providing equal educational opportunities to African Americans from early in its existence, it selected noted abolitionist Horace Mann as its first President.

Antioch College's History of Innovation

Throughout its history, Antioch College has been an innovative campus. During the 20th century, it re-imagined liberal arts education by being among the initial schools to introduce self-designed majors, interdisciplinary studies, and study-abroad programs. Today, its faculty, students, and alumni dedicate themselves to various social and community causes, and Antioch College builds lessons around them using their classroom education in real-world situations.
