WRITING PROMPT

What did you read in “They Say” that you can steal and adapt?

What did you read in your partner’s draft that you can steal and adapt (perhaps for a later essay if not this one)?

Preparing feedback response

Read “They Say” with the Guiding Questions in Mind. Answer the q’s.

Compare your Partner’s essay to the rubric. Note areas that are strong, and areas that need strengthening.

Do not proofread for spelling, punctuation, etc. I will do that.

Feel free write comments on the essay itself.

Keep “They Say,” the rubric and the checklist in front of you while you work with your partner.

Warm/Cool Feedback and Suggested Feedback Language

Give Warm Feedback first. “I really like how you…”“Your synthesis in this section is particularly strong…”

Then move on to Cool Feedback. As much as possible, try to phrase your Cool Feedback using “I wonder if” language: “I noticed you used Smith as your first source and Jones as your second source, but I wonder if you should consider switching that order because…”
