Africa is the 2nd largest continent in the world.

Africa is 3 times the size of the United States.

Africa has rainforest, grasslands and deserts. The largest desert in the world is

found in Africa. It is called the Sahara.

Africa has a rich tradition of arts and crafts.

They create things ranging from woodcarvings to paintings to pottery.

For the African people jewelry is a very important accessory. They wear earrings, bracelets, necklaces and headbands.

Africa produces many different types of crops.

However, depending on where you live, you might only be able to grow certain crops.

Rivers = Rice

Grasslands = Millet

Rainforest = Peanuts and sweet potatoes

During ancient times the people of Africa would trade with other people from different areas to get different types of food.

Kanga is large cotton cloth that is worn by men, women and children.

These garments have bold designs and bright colors.

Kente is a cloth that is worn by kings or for special ceremonies. This cloth is made from silk and has beautiful geometric patterns on it.

People who lived in Africa in ancient times were in members called a clan.

People would work together to help their community.

Family is very important to the African culture.

There are over 2000 languages spoken in Africa.
