A day in the field

The  luxury of waking up to the forest and bird calls…and having a stream all to yourself for a dip!!! 

Days’ work:  sampling the forest and tea plantations with stream water and forest fruits to quench little hunger pangs.

Although we go chasing dung beetles, one cannot resist the other creatures of the forest.

Sorting the catch of the day and a night discussion with my local boss (Prof. Kotagama) and some undergraduates at the research station

One can always bask in the kindness of the local people when working in a rural area. They are quick to befriend , eager to share what little they have and are amazingly knowledgeable of the forest.
