Introduction

Dear members, Thank you very much and welcome to the 5th edition of our Comenius Active Magazine. In this edition we will learn a bit more about each other’s school activities and festivities during a school year.

School Life

We begin the new school year on September first. Then come the new kids in our groups. Since there are mixed groups of kindergarten, only 5-8 new children join the others. In September, we help his integration.

In Autumn we spend a lot of time in the nature. We visit our favuorit places, like parks and forests. Outside we collect some leaves and the treasure of the nature. During the year we make some creative creations.

The most important holidays: waiting for Santa Clause and the Bird Christmas. We decorate the pine with birdseeds.

In every February we dress up to funny costumes, we wear masks. We dance a lot and eat delicious cakes for celebrating carnival. Carnival means that we chase away the winter and wait Spring.

In March 15th we have the biggest national holiday. We remember for the 1848-49 Hungarian revolution and independance day. Girsl wear corolla and boys wear shako. Every Hungarian wear national rosetta.

In May we organise a special sport day for the childen. On that day we bike to the town and the police secure our safety ride. In the nearby street workout park we try different movement development sport tools.

In June the groups visit their favourite trip places. On these days the parents also take part in the program. In forests we build stations with different sporty tasks.

We finish our school year with the end of June after which we start with Summer School/Camp.

School Life

Beginning of the school year We begin our school year in the last week of August. Our teachers are there to welcome us.

Maths Week During Maths week our parents come into school and work with us. It’s good fun!

Halloween October 31st Halloween is an Irish tradition that has now spread around the world. We love to dress up and scare our teachers!

Trip to Dublin Every November we travel to Dublin to see the FAI cup final in the Aviva Stadium

Preparing for Christmas We have a Carol Service in the church for all the families. We also have plays at school.

Christmas Time At Christmas Santa Claus visits the school and gives each child a gift. Here he is beside the Comenius Christmas tree.

Sports Hall Athletics In January we always have a lot of fun competing in Sports Hall athletics.

Roots of Empathy

Each month a mother brings her baby in to

visit us. We can see the baby change and grow

Seachtáin na Gaeilge In March, the week before St. Patrick’s Day is called Seachtáin na Gaelige. We learn songs and poems in Irish, our native language. We also have a quiz in Irish.

Easter Every Easter we have an Easter Egg draw. The money we raise goes to a charity in the Philippines.

We had famous visitors…….. Ireland’s Minister for Sport, Michael Ring. Ireland’s most famous goalie, Packie Bonner.

Football Night We have a special football night each year. Everyone plays…even our parents!

School Tours In May and June, each class goes on a trip to an interesting place.

Sports Day • Every June we hold our annual Sports

Day. We have games, races, face-painting and a barbeque

End of the school year We finish our school year at the end of June. We have a special prize giving day.

Our activities and programme till Christmas

• In December we followed the initiative of the "Give a hug" charity action whose purpose was for each and every child to receive a gift. We designed and made soft "little hugs" and donated them to children.

• We baked biscuits and invited parents and grandparents to visit us in the kindergarten. We organised an intergenerational event where we had lots of fun socialising and enjoying the sweet treats.

• Of course, Father Frost also came to visit us. We sang him a few songs and then he prepared a surprise for us by playing and singing a wonderful song. The children were completely enchanted by it and so the opening of gifts which followed was even more magical.

• We organised a New Year festive fair where we were selling Christmas and New Year greeting cards as well as decorations and then donated the raised amount of money from the sale to socially disadvantaged families in our kindergarten.

• We decorated a Christmas tree. . • We organised a New Year gathering with parents in a magically-decorated city of

Ljubljana.

School Life

Beginning of the school year 2014-2015 We start our school year on the 10th September. There are 6 groups in Pre-school and 15 groups in Primary School. We´ve got as well a Special Needs group.

Halloween at the end of October Our first celebration during the school year is Halloween. There’s no tradition in Spain to celebrate it, but bilingual schools organize a Halloween Day where there are different scary activities and children and teachers dress up.

Day against Gender Violence is celebrated in November: Disability Awareness Day in December – The children of the Special Needs class made a big poster for our school:

Spanish Constitution Day – 6th December: Christmas holidays are close and the Three Wise Men pages come to collect letters from children:

Our Christmas preparations and Christmas Show Each class prepares a song and a dance and we have a big show where families are invited:

Our Christmas holidays finish on the 7th of January. This year we started a Solidarity Campaign to collect food and toys for the children in need. We collected: 1920 toys and 2653 Kgs of food (lentils, rice, pasta, flour, biscuits, milk, tinned food, babies food, etc.) Peace Day is celebrated on the 30th January:

We have our own Carnival parades at school in February. This year the main topic was The Circus, so for a while our school was plenty of clowns, magicians, acrobats, cannonball men, etc.

Day of Andalusia – 28th February

International Women’s Day – 8th March. During one week we had an interesting workshop where all children had to learn to do household chores:

Our Parent’s Association organized before Easter holidays a special event where children learned to make rice pudding: Our 6th graders went on a 3-days school trip to Marbella:

III Mini-olympic Games – 15th – 19th June – At the end of the school year we have mini-olympic games where children play football, basketball, hockey, shuttlecock volleyball, and even Pre-school children take part in an ability sports series:

End of the school year Our school year ends on the 23rd June. There are graduation ceremonies and then every class prepares a song and a choreography and we have a show day with families:

17 March 2015 In anticipation of the summer, we invited friends from the Port Authority to inform us concerning precautions for safe play in and by the sea:

6th March is the day against “inschool violence”. It is said that “1 picture worth 1000 words” So that day we decided to watch the award-winning film "The canary Bike" which we highly recommend

24 March 2015 In collaboration with the Kindergarten of the region we are running a program for the smooth transition of children from kindergarten to primary school. Here they are during their visit to our school in order to attend our celebration for the National Anniversary of Independence Day.

Firstly we introduced them to our school in a playful way and then we planed an olive tree outside their future class which they will find next year and take care.

On April 3, last day before the Easter holidays we watched the Theatrical Performance FATS & SVOU by Ken Kampell by professional group as well.

Music school presented its curriculum to our pupils of the 6th grade and gave a super concert that we all enjoyed very much.

BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR We begin our school year on the 1th of August Then our new children start –most of them are under three years. We have mixed groups. Every year we have 24 children under three years and 52 children between 3-6 years old

Winter in Germany can be cold… it doesn´t matter. Because we have one important feast in winter. It is called “ Karneval” OUR ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMME IN THE SECOND SEMESTER
