Media Evaluation Question 5 Audience research was key in the beginning stage of the production of Malus to make sure that our choice to target the film at 15-24 year olds would work in our favour. To do this we distributed an online questionnaire to see if the audience would be interested in Malus and its storyline. When we had devised the questionnaire we posted it onto social networking platforms, Twitter and Facebook to make sure that the correct audience received it and then emailed it to fellow students in college. The response overall gave us the confidence to continue with Malus, but bear in mind the audience and how we can address them in the film on a personal level. When making Malus we took care to ensure that the dialogue could be related directly to the audience using occasional swearing and colloquial language to show realism and make the teenage audience, who are more likely to identify with the dialogue, understand and feel part of the film. Attracting our target audience of teenagers is essential to ensure that Malus has a successful gross in the box office. By showing the film near to Halloween teenagers and the wider audience will be more tempted to watch the movie, which is another step we are taking to address the audience to improve our own box office status.

Media Evaluation Question 5

Audience research was key in the beginning stage of the production of Malus to make sure that our choice to target the film at 15-24 year olds would work in our favour.
