What is Universal Design?
•“The design of products and environments to be useable by all people to the greatest extent possible without the need for adaptation or specialized design”• It can be applied to ANY product or environment!
For example: A service counter that has multiple heights in order to be
accessible everyone of different heights or those that use
wheelchairs, or automatic door openers for people holding babies or groceries and elderly citizens
using wheelchairs or walkers

Universal Design Learning (UDL)
• Purpose in education is to shift thinking about how we design media and learning experiences to be inclusive to the greatest extent possible• In other words, ensure EVERYONE is a successful learner!
• There is NO average student!• Universal Design Learning (UDL) is not for specific types of students, but for all kinds of students, such as those who are:• Disabled• ADHD, Deaf, Blind, etc.
• ESL • Gifted
