GRAPHIC DESIGN EXPERIMENTS

GRAPHIC DESIGN PRODUCTION Advantages of working in this medium

- An advantage of using Photoshop would be the magic wand tool to get rid of backgrounds on images I have found on the internet and would like to use and edit. - You can do anything to an image you have download you can change the colour, shape to suit you and may other things.

Disadvantages of working in this medium - A disadvantage would be trying to use the magic wand tool to go around awkward images: words, animals also you may not be able to find any images or fonts you wished to use.

GRAPHIC DESIGN PRODUCTION

GRAPHIC DESIGN PRODUCTIONStrengths • Both show the

product clearly(Coca-Cola) you can see what theme the advert is and what time of year it would suit(Christmas)

• Both have some type of Christmas tree/ Christmas branch. They also have presents surrounding the drink this is almost saying that it’s a gift to have.

Weakness• My advert is

very busy and the poster I looked at is busy in the middle, this could stop people from looking at the adverts as there is too much too look at.

• My slogan fits in with the idea of Christmas ‘open happiness’ represents opening Christmas presents on Christmas morning where as the poster I looked at doesn’t really have a slogan.

GRAPHIC DESIGN PRODUCTIONSimilarities • Both show the

product(Coca-Cola)

• Both to do with Christmas, things that tell us this are: Christmas presents and some sort of tree.

• Limited colour scheme, only 4 or 5 different colours, this is good so its not too bring and in your face it’s simple.

Differences• My advert has

a slogan the poster I looked at doesn’t.

• My advert doesn’t have a logo where as the other advert does.

• My advert has social media logos and the other poster doesn’t, the social media is a good idea as it gets everyone looking on social media for the different posters ect.

RADIO PRODUCTION Advantages of working in this medium

- The advantages of making a radio advert are; you can use you voice to promote your product, it is easy to get other sound effects from adverts that have already been made and edit them to suit your advert.

Disadvantages of working in this medium - The disadvantages of making a radio advert are; you may not be able to find or make the sounds you wanting to use in your advert there for you have to change your idea or change the sound effects you are wanting.

RADIO PRODUCTION

Similarities • Both adverts have themed

tunes in the background, for example mine has fireworks and the sound of fire this is to represent bonfire night, where as the Christmas advert I looked at has the sounds of bells to create a feel for Christmas.

Differences • The Christmas advert has no

talking at all just Christmas themed music where as mine talks about the way the ‘coke fizz’ this is promoting my product.

RADIO PRODUCTION

Strengths• I think the way we have faded

each tune in to each other is clever, we used the audio transition tool to create this.

• There is also a cut tool to cut bits out we don’t need, just by pressing the spacebar it stops where you tell it so you know where it is you would like to cut it.

Weaknesses • We could have added in

sounds promoting Coca-Cola by using the catch tune they use on every advert, to make it more clear the adverts about Coca-Cola.

• Also getting the tunes was very hard to find the right bit to fit in and how you wanted it to fade out.

VIDEO GAME PRODUCTION

Similarities• Both adver games are based

on a game, they both have the product in, can or bottle of coke.

• They both have the brand game at the end of the adver game ‘Coca-Cola’

Differences• There adver game has a bit of

violence in where as mine is just plain.

• They have monster type characters where as I have a human.

Page 11: 2. production techniques evaluation pro forma(1)

VIDEO GAME PRODUCTIONA strength of my adver game would be the back grounds and all the little props(coins, can) I have managed to produce, I have managed to produce these by using the different tools Photoshop offers me, I have used the pencil tool, the paint bucket tool to create these.

A weakness of my adver game would be the writing and how the girl walks, I don’t like the writing as its not the real Coca-Cola font, if I was to do it again I would try and use the Coca-Cola font. I think the girl jumps more then walks so if I had longer to create this adver game I would try make the girl look like she is walking rather then jumping.

COMPARISON Which product do you believe advertises

the product the best? Why? - I think radio is the best way to advertise a product as everyone has a radio and listens to it either in the car, at home or even at work sometimes, this way it gets everyone's attention and tells them all about the product. Which of your products is the most

professional? Why? - I think my adver game is the most professional as my radio and poster don’t look/sound like something you would see on anyother poster/radio advert. I think the adver game is very basic but shows you what its about ‘Coca-Cola’ it also has a bit of fun in it as it is a game.
