Some practitioners of “microgiving”

● Awesome Foundation - a network of giving circles that make $1,000 grants for “micro-genius

grant for flashes of micro-brilliance.” Also see the PBS

● Community Investment Network - giving circles founded by communities of color

● Grassroots Grantmakers - a network of funders who use small grants to help everyday people

leading community improvement, often letting those people decide on the grants

● The Pollination Project - founded by a wealthy donor, provides a $1,000 seed grant to a different

individual change-maker every day

● Sunday Soup - a network of groups that fund small to medium sized creative projects through

community meals

Some crowdfunding favorites that are 501(c)(3)s

● Citizen Effect - citizen-led community improvement projects, mostly overseas

● DonorsChoose - classroom projects in public and charter schools in the U.S.

● GlobalGiving - vets and builds support for social entrepreneurs and small nonprofits

● ioby - brings environmental projects to life, block by block, creates community leaders
