• Upgrade EPM environment. Which EPM version? - Compatibility with Internet Explorer 11

• Cost savings within NN - Transparency of costs (Cost of ownership applications)

- Focus on Budget & Planning / Forecasting

- External Sourcing

• Solvency II reporting. - EIOPA requirements at a very late stage which requires maximum flexibility.

• Master Data Management (Improve Data Quality)

- Huge amount of data needed for SII reporting (next to GL data)

• Faster Close. Acceleration of 4 days.

• Rationalization of Group Finance application landscape - Now a lot of data transport / duplication of data

- BI solutions: CXO, OBIEE or ??

- Functionality of EPM Maestro and WebSymphony (Amosca) still needed?

• More extensive use of Calculation Manager and EPMA

• Cloud Solutions

Tips & Pitfalls

Project phase:

• “Think Big” while designing your EPM applications Examples at NN:

- Quarterly to Monthly reporting

- Not being prepared for high volume restatings

• Hire experienced consultants for first design and implementation and learn from them. - Optimal mix between external and internal project resources.

• Guidance of users during project phase (and continue during Production phase!)

Production phase:

• Adjust organisation and processes to the new situation - Clear responsibilities Finance vs. IT regarding functional / technical maintenance and ownership

• Implement Life Cycle Management. Shared responsibility Finance & IT. - New functional (Finance) requirements vs. technical (IT) requirements / possibilities

- Various versions of software components in different countries / BU’s

• “Proper use of the product” - Avoid improper use of functionality and avoid “customization”

- Rebuild or “Build in addition”? How do we deal with changes in requirements.

• Clear agreements with suppliers of data and services
