would be interested in my magazine) would be: o Male or female, as I have found from my focus group and questionnaire,

gender did not affect my results o Teenager, between the age of 15-19 o Doesn’t have a disposable income o Regularly listens to rock music o Would rather read about the music rather than gossip o People who are in bands themselves and appreciate all the instruments in

music

Introduction… • I asked a group of 4 teenagers (who fit the

description of my target audience) to volunteer themselves to help me out with my rock magazine for my media AS coursework.

• I interviewed them one by one so that they weren't affected by other peoples opinion, this meant I could get an accurate answer from them.

• This would help me in designing the final layout for my magazine.

Jess Davies… • Do you go to concerts/gigs/festivals?

o Well, I would love to go to many concerts, but they are too expensive and I cant afford to go to them, seeing as I have to pay for driving lessons and textbooks for college.

• What article do you prefer to read in magazines? o I prefer reading album reviews

• Would you buy magazines if they had special promotional offers, for example discounts for festivals? o Yes! I would definitely buy the magazines if they had discounts for concerts. This

would be really helpful and would definitely make me want to buy them. • What type of colour scheme would you like to see on rock

magazines? o I think mainly dark colours like black and dark blues and reds. Bu ti think sometimes

contrasts like white against black works really well. • Which font do you prefer and why?

o Definitely adobe, because its very easy and clear to read • Which name do you prefer out of the following?

o Amplified!

o Not really, I don’t see the point when I can just listen to the music on my phone or computer.

• What article do you prefer to read in magazines? o I like reading stories about bands, not so much gossip, but more about their music

and how they get their ideas. • Would you buy magazines if they had special promotional

offers, for example discounts for festivals? o Urmmm, not really because I still wouldn’t see the point in wasting my time to go and

see them when I have my computer and my phone • What type of colour scheme would you like to see on rock

magazines? o Mainly dark colours, but sometimes the lighter colours contrast really well

• Which font do you prefer and why? o I think Helvetica works really well, its nice and professional and most importantly

readable. • Which name do you prefer out of the following?

o I think amplified! Is the best

George Martin… • Do you go to concerts/gigs/festivals?

o YES!! I love going to concerts, the idea of meeting new people and connecting with them through the music we listen to is great! The atmosphere is not like any other you could get.

• What article do you prefer to read in magazines? o I really enjoy reading about the bands. A little bit is gossip is always nice, because

then I feel like I cam really connect to the band I'm listening to. • Would you buy magazines if they had special promotional

offers, for example discounts for festivals? o I would definitely buy that magazine! It would really help seeing as I go to a lot of

concerts. The biggest one would be festivals because they can be really expensive. • What type of colour scheme would you like to see on rock

magazines? o Dark colours make the magazine seem too gothic, so I think contrast between light

and dark colours would be really good. • Which font do you prefer and why?

o Helvetica seems like a good font to have on the magazine, because its really clear to read but still looks nice.

• Which name do you prefer out of the following? o Amplified! definitely

o Yes • What article do you prefer to read in magazines?

o I don’t really read magazines because most of them are just gossip, and id rather read about the ideas and the type of things the band does to help inspire them. As a band member myself, it would be really helpful.

• Would you buy magazines if they had special promotional offers, for example discounts for festivals? o Maybe, but if the content was really bad, then I don’t think even the discounts

would make me buy them. • What type of colour scheme would you like to see on rock

magazines? o A mix between dark and light colours really work for rock magazines, I've seen

Kerrang! And Rocks Sound use bright colours like red and blue and it worked for them.

• Which font do you prefer? o Adobe is a really nice font. Its easy to read, bold and just looks nice.

• Which name do you prefer out of the following? o I think Explicit is a really good name, its very unique.
