The better silver
Acticoat™ with SILCRYST™ nanocrystals is an antimicrobial Silver has a broad spectrum effect against silver dressing whose antimicrobial effect works inside bacteria and fungal wound pathogens5 the dressing as well as in the wound bed and therefore Nanocrystalline silver* made up of silver ions contributes considerably to faster wound healing. released quicker than normal silver 1/2/3/4
Nanocrystalline silver has a high level of antimicrobial action5
Nanocrystalline silver*
The smallest structures – the greatest effect Nanocrystalline silver distinguishes itself form normal silver due to its enormous surface area. This porous silver structure permits a much faster release of silver ions. Smaller particles = greater surface area = higher levels of solubility and bioactivity
Revolutionary technology
Acticoat™: Two layers of silver-coated polyethylene net Acticoat™ 7: three layers of silver-coated polyethylene net with a layer of rayon with polyester sandwiched between (see diag.). between two layers of rayon with polyester. Effective for a minimum of three days Effective for a minimum of seven days Note: The antimicrobial effect is activated via moistening with IntraSite™ Gel or Aqua bidest.

Which side of Acticoat™ should be placed on the wound? The blue side should preferably be placed on the wound (excluded Acticoat™ Moisture Control).
Can the dressing be used dry? Acticoat™ is activated with sterile Aqua bidest. (physiological saline solution can lead to AgCl creation and hinder activity)
How often should the dressing be moistened? The wound dressing should be kept moist directly or indirectly, depending on the amount of exudation, however not so damp as to lead to tissue maceration. In case the wound dressing dries, moisten before removing.

Antimicrobial wound dressings - FAQs
Cut to the shape and size of the wound as required
Check the dressing as required and change the secondary dressing according to level of exuda-tion. In the event that the dressing dries out or sticks to the wound. moisten the dressing to assist in removal and prevent pain on removal.
Is it possible that the wound dressing can become too moist? Yes, it can occur that it becomes too moist. Excess moisture needs to be subsequently expressed. If too much moisture remains in the dressing maceration can occur.
Can Acticoat™ be applied overlapping? Yes, Acticoat™ can be applied overlapping.
Can Acticoat™ be cut to size? Yes, as long as you ensure that some of the ultrasonic points remain, so that the layers adhere together.
Can I use Acticoat™ together with oil-based products? Acticoat™ is not compatible with oil-based products, such as Vaseline or paraffin.
What type of secondary dressing can I use with Acticoat™? Dependent on the level of exudation, all secondary dressings, that are recommended to maintain a moist wound environment, e.g. the Allevyn™ range and OpSite™ Flexigrid.
Can I use Acticoat™ with IntraSite™ Gel? IntraSite™ Gel applied – on the outer surface – supports retention of moisture and assists in the activation of Acticoat™. Can Acticoat™ 7 be used with Profore™/ProGuide™ ? Acticoat™ 7 is especially suited for combined use with Profore™/ProGuide™, due to the long lasting release of silver (up to 7 days). For acute wound infections, inspection of the wound at shorter intervals, is recommended. Acticoat™ 7 can also be combined with alternating-compression systems (e.g. short stretch compression bandaging).
Can discomfort occur following application of the dressing? For some users, a temporary stinging or burning sensation may occur. This can be avoided or reduced, when the wound dressing is first applied to the wound 3-5 minutes after applying IntraSite™ Gel or sterile aqua bidest, to the dressing. The activation of the silver ions is then largely self-contained, so that the occasional painful reaction, even with sensitive patients will be noticeably weaker. Does Acticoat™ lead to a colouring or discolouring of the wound? After application of Acticoat™ a colouring or discolouring of the wound base or of surface deposits can occur, because silver turns black when it is oxidised. The discolouration is only temporary and will disappear in 2 – 14 days. This is not harmful for the patient. The healthy skin surrounding the wound, may in the region where Acticoat™ has overlapped, be subject to brown, yellow or black discolouration. The doctor and patient should have no cause for concern. “May cause transient discolouration“ is stated as a precaution in the instructions for use on the package insert. How should I store Acticoat™ ? Protect from the light, store at room temperature (under 25°C).
Finally apply an appropriate secondary dressing.

97 different instruments1 cutting-edge technology – Clean, rinse and aspirate with one instrument
VersaJet™ signigicantly expands your surgical debridement and excision options.
The VersaJet™ Hydrosurgery System enables surgeons to simultaneously hold, cut, and remove damaged tissue and contaminants precisely – without the collateral trauma associated with current surgical modalities.
Debridement, cleaning and rinsing of traumatic wounds, burns, chronic wounds and other soft tissue lesions is achieved in a single step, with a single instrument, and single-handedly, while sparing healthy tissue and permitting the healing process to progress naturally.
The Venturi effectA strong high power water jet sprays from the 0.12 fine nozzle and across the 8 or 14 mm. Due to the special construction of the working nozzle, producing a velocity stream, a vacuum is created under the cutting window that sucks and removes tissue particles, thus keeping the wound area clean. Wide operating window into the evacuation collector tube.
Cut with one movement of the hand...If the hand piece is held parallel to the wound, the high pressure jet works like a scalpel, with the advantage that it is much more precise and can be used a minimal risk of pain. The water jet can be regulated in 10 levels – from removing in wafer-thin layers to deeper cuts into the tissue.
... or rinse, as requiredIf the working nozzle is oriented obliquely to the tissue the effect of the water jet is reduced and vacuuming an irrigation of the contaminated tissue become the main action. The rapid change between excision, cleansing and aspiration allows a particularly efficient debridement.
Convincing advantages
Highy efficient Easy to handle• Precise and gentle removal of affected tissue • Clean, rinse and aspirate in one step,• Effective wound cleansing– Best conditions for with one instrument rapid healing • 10 power settings for variable water pressure on the console • Enhanced view of the OP area due to Economic to use continuous aspiration• Clean wounds lead to potentially fewer procedures • Does not generate heat• Reduced time in operating room• Flexible application due to the problem-free
